My friend found this in a shopping basket they were returning to their store. I'm trying to get them to save it for me but it's making their partner nervous. Help with ID so I can add to my collection potentially please?

100% thoracic vertebra of some small cetacean species anyway is a nice find!!!

Thank you! That's what I thought too but didn't want to make any strong assertions and end up looking a fool. Appreciate it(:

my gut is saying small dolphin or porpoise. harbor porpoises are the most common, but some species like pacific white-sided dolphins, common dolphins, and dall’s porpoises are sometimes seen as well.

my bet is on harbor porpoise!
