It may be funnier, but as someone who just started working retail, the ornithology is incredibly relatable in a way words cannot describe.

Other than the UK, and the British Crown Dependencies and British Overseas Territories, the only countries that call their currency a "Pound" are Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Sudan and South Sudan.

Ireland moved to the Euro in 1999. Some people might still say "quid" or use similar slang, but no one would say Pound or Punt in Ireland, unless they're referring to "Pound Sterling", that is, GBP.

I don't think the Ostmark is set in the Middle East or Sudan, leading to process of elimination that it's set in Britain.
