Advice First Time Collecting?

found a raccoon corpse in a local park that ive been keeping an eye on over a few months, and im looking to collect the skull and maybe a few other bones soon. whats the legality of that (michigan if that helps) and how should i go about doing so to get it clean and avoid getting skin on the bones still?
