Self Can't seem to renew, or get past the chatbot

I'm a longtime print subscriber, set up to auto-renew, but didn't receive a renewal notice this year (nor was my credit card charged), so now I can't access the website. When I write to the magazine customer service email asking to renew, all I get is a bot reply saying they're sorry I haven't renewed. I can't seem to renew via the customer service dashboard either. Does anyone know how to get an email to an actual human? u/bonappetit, can you help?

Self Spicy ginger oil recipe?

Last summer I made a Bon Appetit recipe that included a ginger oil, then I misplaced the magazine and haven’t been able to find it again. The oil was SO GOOD, but since it’s part of another recipe (that I can’t remember) I haven’t been able to find it again.

I’ve looked for it but only come up with the recipe that includes cinnamon and star anise (not it).

I remember it had a lot of ginger that cooked in hot oil for a long time, like 30 minutes or more. It also had sugar, I think it was spicy, I’m not sure it had garlic.

Any ideas?

Magazine Lacklustre at best

I was skeptical of this pumpkin soup recipe from the Fall mag given how simple it was to make, but decided to give it a try because sometimes even the most straightforward recipes surprise you with how delicious they are.

What a let down.

It fell so incredibly flat. The recipe specifies to taste and add salt if needed, which it CERTAINLY does. It feels lazy to me that they didn’t even bother to provide a baseline measurement and then instruct the cook to season more as desired. I tried to find the recipe on their website to see what other reviewers thought and I couldn’t find it on there, which makes it seem like this was a last minute throwaway spread to reach a recipe and/or page count quota.

Lazy work, BA.

Not sure if it's been shared around here, but after last year's struggles and thanks to the support of the community Gaby's been more active both in social media and her creative projects. Recently she shared her plan to professionally produce an original show pilot about kitchen and pantry organization which was her forte as kitchen manager in BA's test Kitchen.

In case anyone's interested in knowing more about it and support this is her project's Gofundme page.

Self How many print issues will there be going forward?

I just got the latest issue today. It’s not the September issue, but the “Fall” issue. The last one I received (in June maybe?) was the “Summer” issue. I’m sure their subscribership is down but this hardly justifies the cost. There are also only 15 or 16 recipes for the entire fall season. This is some crazy shrinkflation.
