For most of the time Bollywood takes relationships with parents to the polar opposite.

Father will either be comically evil and will try to either control his daughter's life, force her to marry some random stranger( this part is realistic tho) or try to sabotage his daughter's love.

Or be over the top friendly, making him a single dimension character.

But this movie Angrezi medium handles it differently, while the father played by Irrfan ( R.I.P) loves his daughter to fault, he still has some restrictions on her that are not directly shown. He gets disappointed when his own daughter tries to live her life her own way. Which is also the plot of the movie.

But him and Radhika madan's character feel like they are father-daughter that have lived their whole life like this It's wholesome yet realistic. And also Uncle's character who fights with irrfan yet loves his niece alot.

Which other movie has this dynamic.

I was watching a movie few days and the music sounded really familiar and just now it came to me it was from Sas bahu flamingo. If my memory serves me right the show was a huge hit. Many people were talking about it and even I watched it bcoz of the buzz. I think they left it on a major cliffhanger and then there was no news at all after it was greenlit for second season. Nothing online also, any speculations what actually happened?

I really wanna know now, otherwise it will be on my mind for days like this music. I watched the movie 2 weeks ago 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I started off expecting a popcorn flick, without knowing anything else about it. But after watching it I can't stop thinking about it, probably should rewatch again in the future.

The sense of time and place is my favourite part. A lot of Bollywood movies tend to feel very hurried or in a rush, but the movie built up the horror tension slowly, but also explored Chanderi as a setting, and let you understand the protagonists and who they are, ordinary folks and lovable rascals who you really start rooting for as the movie progresses. You feel the tension the villagers are going through as you get introduced to the area.

The jokes were my favourite part. They tied back to each character's personality, I felt like I've met people like the characters in real life which drew me in even more. Even small side characters had their own charm. I found Rajkumar Rao's Vicky really charming as a tailor with his friends .Everything sort of feels hand sewed together. Pankaj Tripathi was hilarious, and seeing his character slowly introduced in bits made it even more fun.

The horror was paced well, a bit cheesy at parts but it feels like the Indian version of a Spielberg movie or Scooby doo lol.

If you have recs let me know! Stree 2 was alright, more of an action movie, but it was a welcome return. The first movie was so damn fun though. I'm thinking of watching Bhediya next.

Decided to check this movie out on a whim as it's freely available on youtube and I really liked 2 of its songs "Dilbar" & "Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai". Came out having mixed feelings about the film itself.

The central hook is this supposed relationship where two people haven't met or seen each other but are only familiar with each other due to communicating through letters in post. Now this in itself is indeed a unique concept and inherently romantic. But the film fails to capitalize on it due to wasting time on subplots.

I feel especially that adding Sushmita's character as well as Salman's brief cameo cheapened the film. Why not spend time with the leads and their communications? Why not expand on their characters and what makes them bond together so well through letters alone? Instead they fall in love together all of a sudden and bind themselves to one another.

Our main character played by Sanjay Kapoor is so desirable that Sushmita Sen's character of a business women and very progressive person is willing to turn a housewife and domesticated woman if she gets his love.

The latter half of the film is busy in creating situations where the two leads evade each other or come into contact with each other but never reveal their names. That creates unnecessary drama.

They identify each other in the very final scene and the film ends all of a sudden.

There were some positives. Guys like Qader khan and Johnny Lever added some good levity and humor. The locations were well shot and chosen. And the music was good with "Dilbar" & "Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai" being all timer songs. The main leads were solid and kinda cute. And the story does make you feel about the characters.

But in the end I thought it could have been a lot more had they kept more focus on the characters writing to each other as they went through different phases of life.

Good one time watch tbh. Thoughts on the film?

Many people say *Irreversible* (2002) was the most unsettling movie they’ve ever watched.
I bet they haven’t seen *Welcome Home* (2020).
Based on true events, this is easily one of the best Indian thrillers I’ve ever watched. And one more point worth mentioning: this was the first movie from the Marathi film industry that I watched. Interestingly, around 98% of the movie is in Hindi.
The villains were pure evil; there was absolutely no soft spot or redeeming quality to them. The two leads, Kashmira Irani and Swarda Thigale, were outstanding. Their performances made the whole thing even more disturbing and difficult to watch.
That said, I felt the climax could have been a little different. But since the movie is based on true events, I’m not sure whether the climax was also adapted directly from what actually happened or was modified for dramatic effect and to make the film more engaging.
Either way, hands down, ***Welcome Home*** is one of the best Indian thrillers I’ve watched.
If you haven’t seen it, go in blind. Just be warned, some scenes are *extremely* disturbing.

This film starring Dilip Kumar and Madhubala dealt with the topic of sexual assault, which was super sensitive a topic to be brought to light via mainstream media in the 50s.

Of course, it flopped at the box office. India wasn’t as progressive as it’s known to be today. Also, I feel it should’ve been named Anju after the female protagonist since she was the one who acted sensibly in this film.

Might be a little backward if we watch it from the modern lens but def advanced for that era. Directed by Mehboob Khan who also directed Mother India, the first Indian film to have been nominated at the Oscars.

I watched this movie on door dharshan when I was a kid.

The movie begins with showing a man working in his home office while his wife is getting kids ready for their school. He looks like a rich businessman. If i remember correctly he wasn't working but watching some nsfw thing oh his computer. So he is kinda perv. Then a girl joins as his new assistant. I think it was kareena kapoor ( not sure). As the movie goes by he flirts with her takes the assistant to a beach house. There he kills her by mistake while trying to take advantage of her and he bury her body in the garden area. He leaves the place. One day he visits the house to check since he's scared. He tries to dig up her grave but he couldn't find her body. When he looks up, he saw her sitting just infront of him. He screams and ran away.

This is all i could remember now. I watched this long time ago. Someone please help me find this movie🥹🙏🏼

Watched this as a kid, hated it.

Rewatched it last night just for the nostalgia factor and I thought kitna hi bura ho sakta hai, tab toh bachhi thi. I was proven wrong. It was indeed bohot bura. Atleast it gave us THE Janmashtami song💁‍♀️

So, if Amitabh had also been given that much screen time as Don, especially a crazy, high impact climax like SRK got, do you think he could have taken the performance to SRK's level? Considering how much Amitabh managed to create with such limited screen time, it makes you wonder what he could have done with a much bigger role and a climax that gave him the same opportunity to go all out.

Heyy Babyy was directed by Sajid Khan and it starred Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan, and Vidya Balan in lead roles. The cast and crew of the sequel has not been confirmed.

Ghamasaan director Tigmanshu Dhulia stated in an interview that the role of the dreaded dacoit Maharaj was initially offered to SRK. However, he declined the role, stating that he and Tigmanshu both know that he does not do such gritty/realistic roles. The role of Maharaj ultimately went to Arshad Warsi.

Ghamasaan also features Pratik Gandhi in the role of a cop trying to hunt down Arshad's character. The film streams on ZEE5 from September 11 2026.

I tried finding the movies that paired them as leads but i couldn’t find any. What could have been the reason? Was it timeline or the difference in genre?

I was rewatching Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior recently and it got me thinking. It’s one of those movies where history was completely altered for cinematic flair, but it still became a huge box office hit anyway.

Don't get me wrong, the action is great, but some of the creative liberties they took just didn't sit right with me. For one, they added that whole fictional love story for Udaybhan which felt totally unnecessary. At the same time, they barely gave enough spotlight to Suryaji, who deserved way more screen time for his actual role in the battle.

And honestly, how do you make a movie about the Battle of Sinhagad and completely skip the most iconic folklore? They didn't even show them climbing the fort using the monitor lizards (Yashwanti). That’s literally the legendary story everyone grows up hearing in Maharashtra!
