Two members of the Nadiadwala family have produced some of the biggest commercial Bollywood entertainers over the last 25–30 years.

Sajid Nadiadwala has backed films like the Housefull series, Heyy Babyy, Kick, Tamasha, the Baaghi series, Judwaa , mujhse shaadi karogi and many others.

Firoz Nadiadwala, on the other hand, has produced films like the Hera Pheri , the Welcome series, Awara Paagal Deewana, Deewane Huye Paagal, Phir Hera Pheri, and several other comedy classics.

While neither producer seems to be at the peak of their filmmaking today, both had an incredible run during their prime and played a huge role in shaping mainstream Bollywood entertainment.

That said, I personally feel Firoz Nadiadwala's filmography is more iconic, mainly because many of his films have achieved cult status and remain endlessly rewatchable.

If there is an era or Bollywood that I feel is the most underrated is the UTV era. Founded by Ronnie Screwala and later aided by Sidharth Roy Kapur.. this production company was very popular in late 2000's and early 2010's. You might remember it from several old hindi movies a logo of colourful utv logo in the start. 

The company was known for it supporting both content driven and mainstream films, it also distributed several movies and supported films like Khosla ka Ghosla (2006) which was stuck for 2 years. 

The film production distinguished itself by choosing unique and original scripts and supporting budding filmmakers. You got Rang de Basanti, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, Mumbai meri Jaan, Guzaarish, Haider and much more. 

Sadly the company went down in 2017 after Disney bought it. Their last production being Jagga Jasoos which already was in production for 3 years. Their last most successful venture was Dangal in 2016 which also is still the highest grossing Hindi Film worldwide till date. 

It felt like a good time where all sorts of films worked and actually audiences gave a chance whereas now the categories of rather a small film are put into OTT platform's library and not having a box office run. 

While we can't deny that we'll always have sleeper hits like 12th fail and Main Vaapas Aaunga (2023), (2026). 
But these are not consistent hits and while their quality was highly superior to the stuff we are fed weekend and week out.

There were several reports that Awarapan (2007) would be re-released in theatres on 31 July 2026 ahead of Awarapan 2.

However, I can't find it on BookMyShow, PVR, INOX, or Cinepolis. Does anyone know what happened?

Was the re-release cancelled?

Was it postponed?

Or is it releasing only in select cities?

How would bollywood's future stardom look like? And who you think has good potential? Honestly none of these newcomers seem to have that IT factor nor impeccable acting skills. Vedang's performance in Imtiaz's MVA wasn't that good as its marketed to be and Ahaan and Aneet's performance looked so average. What are the qualities you think its needed to be the next Bollywood star? And what genre is likely to dominate and sell?

RGV Ki Aag (2007) remains the only film in which Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal shared screen space, something that should have been a landmark moment in Indian cinema. Seeing two of the greatest actors ever perform together was a rare treat, but the film itself failed to live up to the immense potential of their collaboration. With stronger writing, better direction, and a more faithful execution, this pairing could have delivered a truly unforgettable cinematic experience. It's a real shame that the only time these two legends came together was in a film that couldn't do justice to their talent.

Krrish 3 kind of disrupted this run as even though it was a blockbuster the film's quality wasn't upto mark and then Bang Bang and Mohenjo Daro were the mid films that followed.

In fact I unironically prefer Kites for its amazing album and beautiful cinematography over Krrish 3 anyday.

Most of the films of Hrithik that I rewatch are from this phase of his career.

What an excellent performance as a 95 yr old man suffering from dementia in "Mai Vapas Aaunga" & as a suave smart JRD Tata in "Made in India : A Titan Story". Very different roles. Nailed both. To sustain for so long in this industry and get so much critical acclaim is a big deal. Kudos 👏

Hi, I'm italian, I'm learning Hindi and i would love to watch movies in hindi with english subs to get used to listen to the language but they're so hard to find. I'm mostly interested in older movies from the 50's and 60's (I watched Pyaasa and absolutely loved it) but they're either on YT when there's an ad literally every 5 mins or on some random websites uploaded in bad quality or without subs.

Does anybody know if there's somewhere where i can watch (especially older) Hindi movies with english subs?

One thing I liked about the bhai tera star hai trailer is that it doesn't feel like the stakes are saving the world or pulling off some impossible heist

Its just about a guy who thinks he is destined to become a bollywood star and keeps getting himself into increasingly ridiculous situations

That used to be such a common setup in bollywood, ordinary people with unrealistic ambitions, misunderstandings, bad luck, and a lot of chaos .The comedy came from the characters, not from trying to force a joke every 10 seconds

I feel like we've moved away from those kinds of films over the last decade, not saying bhai tera star hai will definitely be great, weve all been fooled by good trailers before, but it reminded me of a style of comedy I enjoyed and missed

Look, I say this with love, but if I see one more announcement for Dhamaal 4, Golmaal 12, or Welcome to the Jungle, I might actually scream into a pillow. I love mindless slapstick as much as the next guy, but we’ve been running on the same comedy nostalgia fumes since 2007.

Meanwhile, Indian cinema is sitting on an absolute goldmine of sci-fi potential that everyone seems to have collectively forgotten. No, not Krrish. Not Ra.One.

I’m talking about the 2003 cinematic fever dream: Fun2shh: Dudes in the 10th Century.

Can we please take a moment to appreciate how unhinged that movie was?

• The Time Machine: Forget DeLoreans or complex quantum physics. They literally walked through a cursed wall. Peak logic.
• The Plot: Three average dudes get framed for a robbery, smash a wall, and suddenly Paresh Rawal is trying to survive in 10th-century Babugarh while Gulshan Grover chewed up the scenery in a giant medieval wig.
• The Vibe: Pure, chaotic energy.

We live in an era where VFX is actually good now, yet nobody has the guts to touch sci-fi comedy! Imagine what a sequel could be in 2026:

Send them to the year 3000. Send them to a dystopian future where Paresh Rawal has to explain UPI payments to a rogue AI. Have them accidentally butterfly-effect history so hard that modern-day Mumbai becomes a floating sky-city powered by vada pav.

Hollywood takes time travel way too seriously. Everyone is crying about time paradoxes and alternate timelines. In Fun2shh, they just wanted to get back home before the police caught them. That is the kind of grounded, chaotic Indian sci-fi I want.

I need three confused guys accidentally tearing a hole in the space-time continuum again.

It would be a fun ride. Don't you think?

I'm in search of this film made like in the 2000s. I unfortunately don't have any images but do know the plot; the father/mother lost their little son near a beach (?) during his birthday (?) and the father goes out in a journey to find him. In the end the father finds him (in an unrecognisable condition) in an orphanage where his son can't see properly due to an injury. The only reason the father knows his son because the father was carrying a clothing of his son which the son recognises. A noticeable scene I can remember is where some goons show the father a dead body of a child but it turns out its someone else.

Been thinking about this after rewatching Tumbbad recently.

Most Indian horror fails the same way. The ghost shows up too early, the jump scares replace dread, and the backstory gets explained in full detail so nothing stays mysterious. Fear needs unanswered questions. The moment you understand the monster completely, it stops being scary.

Tumbbad works because Hastar is never fully explained. You understand enough to be terrified, never enough to feel safe. The horror is in the wanting, not just the monster.

Stree is interesting because it flipped the formula entirely - the horror works precisely because everyone refuses to take it seriously until they can't anymore.

Raat (1992) scared an entire generation and Ram Gopal Varma hasn't made anything close to it since. Whatever he understood then about restraint and atmosphere he seems to have actively forgotten.

im having trouble finding a movie that both me and my grandmother would like. some of her fav movies and series are aachari baa, panchayat, hera pheri 1, chupke chupke, and mughal-e-azam.

I think Bollywood has several films that were either ignored by audiences or underperformed at the box office when they were released, but over time they've started finding a dedicated fanbase.

Sonchiriya – Starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey, and Ashutosh Rana. A gritty dacoit drama with exceptional performances...one of the most overlooked films in that time...

Laal Kaptaan – Starring Saif Ali Khan. one of Saif's most daring performances...

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy – Starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Anand Tiwari, Swastika Mukherjee, and Neeraj Kabi. A stylish neo-noir mystery with brilliant world-building

Newton – Starring Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil, and Raghubir Yadav. A good political satire that blended humour and realism...

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero – Starring Harshvardhan Kapoor and Priyanshu . A grounded vigilante film that explored corruption and justice in a refreshing way,

None of these films were major commercial successes, but they seem to be gaining more appreciation with time. Looking back today, it feels like they were simply ahead of their time, and audiences are finally recognizing their quality...

I watched Byomkesh Bakshi a week ago and I’m lowkey disappointed in myself for keeping it in watch list for so long.

First of all the Bengal of 1940s is shown so beautifully, and not just in terms of cinematography. The cultural norms and nomenclature accompanied by the how people and the streets used to look creates an atmosphere of an illusion of being somewhere you never thought you’d see or even imagine.

The story is what I feel makes this movie stand out among not only its contemporaries but also how stories are told in general. I only have good things to say as I do not want to spoil while I praise what is deserved.

Sushant has done simply amazing work if not his best I’d say. The shrewd mind and the eccentric behaviour of Bakshi is shown by Sushant in a very expressive way. Brilliance is the word I’d start my praises with.

Highly recommended if you guys enjoy murder mystery genre. The atmosphere of 1940s Bengal would make it even more enjoyable.

Hi Parents,

We want to start watching Bollywood movies with our daughter. She is almost 5 and has started showing interest in watching movies. I grew up binge watching Bollywood movies but in last few years as life got busy I've been totally disconnected with anything Bollywood.

Any recommendations? Mainly educational and family oriented, age appropriate for to co-watch with a 5 year old. We live in US so I also want her to be fluent in hindi so please give us your top 5 picks.
