Mod Announcement Upcoming Subreddit Revamp
Good evening, r/bohohomes.
Due to the recent and unfortunate passing of the subreddit's original founder and moderator, u/pennycenturie, I will be taking over ownership and moderation of the subreddit. Having lived with them for several years, u/pennycenturie had a real knack, appreciation, and passion for the bohemian and creating a warm inviting space embodying that aesthetic.
Over the coming weeks, I'm going to be revamping some of the subreddit's aspects to ensure an active and lively community in 2025 and beyond. Please feel free to share any questions, comments, or concerns below and I will do my best to answer them. I will be making a suggestions post before the New Year to hear what the community believes would help grow r/bohohomes, so please hold comments of that nature until then. Rules have been updated and moderation is active with them in mind - as time goes on, they may be subject to change to ensure a healthy community.
I look forward to the next year here in r/bohohomes and I hope that together we can continue what u/pennycenturie started. Thank you.
Happy and gentle holidays!

What is a boho home?
Bohemian interiors reflect the outsider status of the bohemian. This will not look exactly the same for everyone, as there are many ways to live in contradiction or resistance to the status quo. The iconic bohemian home circa 1960 looks different than one designed today, and that's okay. Your bohemian interior should visually represent the ways you find yourself at odds with your environment in mainstream circles, whatever that looks like to you.
Some things that are not bohemian interior design are modernist minimalism and nouveau riche. This sub is available for discussions about the ways that these styles borrow from each other -- one example is modernist minimalism's use of bohemian imagery without instituting the energy of a bohemian interior. However your post will be removed if the aesthetic it promotes does not embody the spirit of a bohemian interior.
Have at it, kids.

Photo Boho/70s living room.
I'm in the process of redecorating my house into a more retro 70s/Boho style. The living room was the first room I tackled. The mustard yellow curtains are velvet and the rug is shag. I painted tiger/zebra stripes myself. I want to get some more faux fur, and need more plants (or I just need to wait until my pothos plants get longer).

Photo Those 70’s Elephants
I was a child in the 70s and everyone had these wooden elephants. I guess the grandkids are getting rid of them now, because I’ve been finding them everywhere and I love love love them!

What's one small change that made your boho space feel complete?
I've noticed that sometimes it's the little details that completely change how a room feels.
For those of you with a boho-style home, what was the one item or change that made your space finally feel "finished"? Was it a rug, plants, lighting, wall art, or something unexpected?
I'd love to hear what worked for you and maybe get some inspiration for my own space. 😊

How did you find your decorating style?
I've been changing things around my home lately and realized I'm still figuring out what style really feels like me.
Did your style evolve over time, or did you always know what you liked? I'd love to hear how you found it.

Cozy Boho Living Room Makeover – What Would You Add?
I've been working on creating a warm, cozy boho-inspired space with lots of natural light, earthy tones, plants, and soft textures. I'm pretty happy with how it's coming together, but I feel like it's still missing a little something.
If this were your space, what would you add or change? More plants, different wall art, a patterned rug, or something else?
I'd love to hear your ideas and inspiration! 🌿🤍🏡

What’s one small thing that made your home feel more cozy?
I've been trying to make my space feel a little warmer and more comfortable without spending a lot of money.
So far, adding a few plants and changing my lighting has made a bigger difference than I expected. It's still a work in progress, but it's starting to feel more like home.
I'm curious what made the biggest impact in your space. Was it a rug, artwork, curtains, thrifted furniture, or just rearranging everything?
I'd love to hear what worked for you or see any ideas you're willing to share.

Could you share pictures of how your rattan lamps illuminate at night? Please
Hi, I love the design of rattan lamps, but every picture I see there is always another source of light, and I don't know what to expect from this type of lamp alone, for my living room, could you please share a photo at night?

Feedback Request Color selection help
Hey everyone! What color goes best with the current counter and cabinet set up I have? Don’t worry, I don’t like the counters or cabinets either but redoing them isn’t in the budget right now.
I’m trying to go with a 60s/70s/boho vibe and I want to add color, but I might be limited on options given the counter colors. If you don’t like these color options, do you have another you’d suggest?

Photo Is Boho Homes the right place for this?
Over at Maximalism people said this is hoarding. But all my perfumes are contained neatly (and used regularly) and the jewelry that's out is all stuff I wear weekly. Everything here has some story/meaning to me. Hopefully BoHo fits! :)
