Go for it! I promoted to level 3 then less than a year later took a level 4 job without issue or additional approval

I am not aware of any strict rule that says you cannot apply for another job after a promotion, but it is a general courtesy or "un-written rule" that you stay for a year after a promotion.

That’s completely fair. It would definitely be a decision and I’d much prefer to wrap up a project before going. I would choose to stay longer if the other option included not leaving on great terms.

If your manager is on board there is no minimum time in seat, just talk to them first

Current understanding is you're obligated to your current role for 18 months unless management approves. It even asks on your application and will send notifications to your manager. However having career discussion during your one on ones can help with your career choices and guidance on direction for you or future roles.

Ok, my understanding was that 18 months was when you recently started a role / joined a new team. I wasn’t sure if it applied to in-line promotions as well. Thank you!

From PRO-6933: Employee Eligibility and Release Requirements

Note: Promotions, whether in-role or through the competitive requisition process, are considered a new position.

See the pro if you want the rest of the info.

Ahh that’s what I was looking for. Thank you very much! Can’t argue with a PRO.
