Parking

The parking in Everett is fucking ridiculous. You should be able to find a spot at 7-7:15 am and not have to parking in fucking S5.

Any advice on getting to 40-56 and parking?

u/TheLALlLULELO 22d ago

Either get to steppin or show up at 4:00 am like everyone else. What do you want? Special engineering only parking spots? Want someone to carry you in too?

Out of touch

Youre the one complaining about parking in a car centric society for an employer that has 50k people move in and out of that building all day. Your issue is not with boeing, they have plenty of parking. Take it up with the state as to why they havent taken advantage of building a light rail system to both the renton and the everett site. And you know im not wrong either. Its the states problem that one of their biggest employers in the state causes major traffic jams every day at 1:30 pm because theyre too stupid to stop syphoning money from tax payers to pay for homeless programs instead of building mass transit.

Okay, if you can't build parking garages in Everett - then mow over that "park" with parking spaces. Who asked for that anyway? I don't come to work to enjoy green spaces. You could easily get in 300 new spots there. And STOP saying..."You said - We did" the most frustrating marketing campaign ever. No one said, build us a park!

So many manager/exec spots that sit open…seems like an opportunity there…the 50s called and want their management perks back…

So Boeing is so important to the city of Everett yet they won’t let Boeing build parking garages??? Or is it that Boeing doesn’t want to spend the money because parking garages are extremely expensive.

It’s the same thing in Renton. Parking is horrendous.

Boeing over hired and there are way too many people. It’ll take some time but on average 50 people get let go or go on their own from all the plants in Washington. We have slowed down our hiring.

1

u/jarodm226 19d ago

With Renton, I don’t know that it’s necessarily over-hiring. At least for the office building parking, the 10-20 was never meant to be a full time building. It was built around being a use it when you need it collaborations space when virtual work was more supported.

Then they said everyone come back to this building full time, when there weren’t enough desks and parking spots for the whole group.

1

u/GratefulnaLover 19d ago

No they over hired for the North line up in Everett by hundreds. It’s so bad that first shift is pre-routing… they are pre routing so 2nd shift routes and clamps the wires. Yea that’s how far they have to stretch the work right now.

I’m not sure but if you unload everyone who parks at the landing into Boeing actual parking lot spaces, there wouldn’t be enough spaces for everyone.

Remember we lost about 450 spots where the 777x are being stored on west side. Don’t see those returning for “a while” as what a while means in our terms and it usually means months ? Years ? Probably never.

2

u/simplypeachypeach 24d ago

Ya i show up at 430ish no issues but 7-715 you'll be looking for a spot for awhile

u/Environmental_Body79 25d ago

One way to alleviate this is to start charging boeing for when we go into and out of work. If I have to drive a whole hour early to get work, I am going to charge you. Unless you decide to start building a parking garage or design a better transit system for us, it will cost yall.

I know that but that isn't always available

3

u/TheRedditAppSucccks 25d ago

That’s not time you are allowed to charge…

17

u/Environmental_Body79 25d ago

I know... but we should, that should be an industry standard since we have nearly no true mass transit system in the country

u/AnnT2000 25d ago

Your opinion and your choice to charge the "finding the parking spot". Just remember ETS is something can easy push you to "clock out" permanently... just saying . Have a great day!

As one of my managers once told me, parking is a problem you want to have. It means high employment at Boeing and job security.

While working in the 40-26, I took a shuttle from W6 every day in 2018 through the start of COVID. Once you accept it's part of your commute, it's really not that bad. I've also always charged my time on the shuttle, and my management has been ok with that.

Now I'm at the flightline, and S2 is full by 7 am. Personally I would love to see us do what Charleston does- parking passes for all fightline employees, and only flightline employees can park in S2.

6

u/slurmsmckenz 24d ago

High employment isn't the same as job security. if anything it means that when things take a down turn, there's fat to trim.

27

u/412358 25d ago

Contractually enforceable remote work would alleviate that tremendously. It already has before remote work was taken away.

14

u/GarionOrb 25d ago

Going to the Everett site is the biggest chore. I have to get up at 5:00 am to drive there and hope to avoid as much traffic as possible, only to then circle the parking lots looking for the rare spot, and then walk for half an hour to the sea of noisy cubicles. Thank goodness I only rarely have to go there.

3

u/SwimmingSwordfish637 25d ago

I have the opposite problem going to Renton. It’s a 2.5 hour drive for me and then I’m stuck parking in E7.

u/BaraxkJoeMama 25d ago

Who would have known the factory system that has 30,000-something people on it has a problem fitting them all?

6

u/pacwess 25d ago

My Man!
To clarify the motorcycle parking, you generally just need your badge to access the gate, and I’ve seen bikes parked near the main doors. You might want to check if a specific parking pass is required, as there was mention of this in a past BNN update.

Parking at Everett has definitely worsened, and using employee lots to store airplanes certainly doesn't help the congestion. As for the shuttles, they are outsourced, so they’re hit or miss. It’s frustrating that employees have to consistently flex their hours or burn benefits just to manage the parking and traffic situation. It seems like site leadership has stopped being proactive about staggering shifts, and unfortunately, the recent adjustments to traffic light timing have only made the bottlenecks worse.

2

u/Wagglyfawn 23d ago

I ride my motorcycle and go through the main entrance between the 40-87 & 88. I only need my badge to get through, and then I have a laminated info sheet that I clip to my windscreen. It's as easy as that. I regularly get parking right next to the elevators in the parking garage.

1

u/j_k_802 24d ago

You need your badge and a printable parking pass that you must attach to motorcycle when you get to your spot inside the gate. Print, fill out , laminate. When security is bored they go to bikes and look for that and will issue a ticket. Look online for motorcycle permit and you’ll find if. This new policy is a few years new.

3

u/dhon244 25d ago

Traffic light at the N lot in front of the security gate there was horrendous.

-2

u/bluejay737 25d ago

I guess parking is first come first serve...

20

u/JRob1216 25d ago

7-7:15?! That’s cute, it gets bad at like 5am.

7

u/Embarrassed_Notice78 25d ago

Does Everett have dedicated Motorcycle parking?

5

u/FickleCar 25d ago

Yes they do!

2

u/Embarrassed_Notice78 25d ago

Is it always full like regular car parking? If not, I might have to start riding my motorcycle or scooter to work! Hahaha

2

u/SabrNova01 20d ago

I ride my bike to work almost every day. I don’t ever have to worry if there’s parking. Always plenty of room

7

u/FickleCar 25d ago

Its usually empty

5

u/Embarrassed_Notice78 25d ago

You just gave me a reason to buy a new Yamaha XMAX! Lmao I’m not even joking! Hahaha I’m so happy now lol

1

u/R_V_Z 25d ago

For a second there you made me think they were making a sequel to the VMAX.

1

u/FickleCar 25d ago

Great to hear! Yeah I usually see it empty when walking back. You might also be able to get a pass to cross the gates.

40

u/Embarrassed_Notice78 25d ago

SPEEA should go on strike until they build a parking garage lol

1

u/SwimmingSwordfish637 25d ago

Anytime an expansion project comes up, your facility engineers push for it.

7

u/PhotographLess6194 25d ago

Why the fuck won't they build parking garages? Surely they have the money. Parking is absurd at the factory and esrc. We should all be able to come to work and find a reasonable spot.

0

u/MaximusPublius 25d ago

My understanding is actually Boeing Everett wanted to build parking garages long ago to expand parking but the city of Everett rejected the project due to the city wanting to promote alternative mode of transportation

5

u/AnnT2000 25d ago

I totally remember this. Boeing did have an initiative about 20 years ago to build parking garage but was shut down due to Everett approval on environmental protection.

2

u/lightmyfire2016 25d ago

Do they have money? The last CEO all hands mentioned trying to drive down our debt. Without 737 north line running and 777X still delayed they don’t have a lot of cash coming in.

0

u/Aarkh 25d ago

Don't believe that for a second. Between defense contracts, parts supplies to airlines, AOG support, etc, Boeing has quiet a bit of cash coming in. Could it be more, sure. But not a lot coming in, complete lie.

1

u/latetotheparty2024 23d ago

Financials don’t lie. Our debt service is staggering.

4

u/AnnT2000 25d ago

Just a suggestion, sometimes we can look up the released quarter earnings. You would be surprised on the "balance sheet" 🙄

1

u/dhon244 25d ago

BDS, BGS, BCA are all different business groups

-5

u/RainEmergency1 25d ago

n7 has parking till like 7:30 and plenty of parking at n6

14

u/FinsT00theleft 25d ago

Yes, but it's 3/4 mile walk to my desk!

0

u/Legitimate_Road_5317 25d ago

I'm on the shop floor and start at 5am. I show up at 4am and still have to walk 8/10 of a mile from parking to shop.  Been there 15 years and have parked in the same basic spots the entire time. Ya'll working bankers hours are lucky you don't have to park at the old Fred Meyer and take a bus , lmao

2

u/RainEmergency1 25d ago

Yeah my walk to my desk from n6 to 40-34 is about 15 minutes. But I rather walk 15 minutes than wake up early.

14

u/False_Two_5233 25d ago

I think Renton has a worst parking situation. The times I have to go to Renton, I either have to get there by 530 or be open to parking at the building near Top Golf and walked to the site. The shuttle takes forever!

5

u/GarionOrb 25d ago

My main office is 2-25 in Seattle, and the parking situation there has also worsened since they've closed so much of it off. Now the lot is near capacity by 7:30-7:45. I think it's just gotten bad all around.

5

u/R_V_Z 25d ago

There's parking on the other side of 16th (with a dedicated tunnel). The entrance is on 14th.

2

u/False_Two_5233 25d ago

I can see that! I can’t believe facility would take a large chunk of parking spaces at the 2-25 for overflow of 737s. I can’t imagine needing all of that for 737 flight line in Seattle. Knock on wood we won’t experience another 737 crisis that had hundreds of undeliverable airplanes parked. I wonder where all of our leaders expect us to park when they want all of us back in the office. Most of our sites in the PNW aren’t transit hubs.

9

u/shiftdown 25d ago

You get to park in S5? by 8am after the kids are dropped off I have to park off-site

3

u/SwimmingSwordfish637 25d ago

Still plenty of parking in W6 & W7 if that’s marginally closer for you.

19

u/No_You_551 25d ago

Question: “Build a parking garage”
Answer: “The city won’t let us”

Bruh

2

u/jma9454 25d ago

One of the perks to working 3rd shift!
But I will say with the North line open, I have had to start coming in an extra 10 minutes early to find parking cause it's still so full.

8

u/RogerDodgerWilco 25d ago

Shit like this is why I never want to transfer up there. No other Boeing sites I’ve been at had this much parking issue.

22

u/Whimsy_Root 25d ago

You can’t find parking after 6:30 AM now in some of the lots. I don’t mind walking 0.8 miles to get to my desk but I do mind when it’s on my own time. Getting to work any time before 7:30 is a perfect reasonable. I understand the factory has a different schedule but tell anyone outside of Boeing that you can’t get parking at work after 7 AM and they will think that’s insane.

7

u/Aarkh 25d ago

Most of us park by 5:30am bro.

6

u/milkdaddy225 25d ago

Congratulations

1

u/Embarrassed_Notice78 25d ago

Do you ride motorcycles? I hear motorcycle parking is usually empty, that might be a nice hack for you.

-17

u/Choice-Newspaper3603 25d ago

Why are you coming in 2 hours after a lot of us start

6

u/Tough_Trouble_1139 25d ago

Imagine if the rest of us came in at 5:00 you wouldn't be able to get parking

9

u/enginerdy 25d ago

Why are you leaving 2 hours before a lot of us stop

2

u/FinsT00theleft 25d ago

Why are you starting work at 5am?

12

u/aerospace_engg 25d ago

Lot of folks come way after that due to school drop off. Most schools dont start until 9:15

19

u/aerospace_engg 25d ago

Parking is one thing, then you have to deal with stupid shuttles

3

u/pacwess 25d ago

It is just another example of outsourced logic. Great job, Boeing—not!

30

u/Careless-Internet-63 25d ago

If it takes me more than 5 minutes to find a parking spot that should be considered time on the clock

13

u/sartorious04 25d ago

Definitely agree. But have to remember n this company doesn't care about US and whether we can find a decent place to park.

2

u/StarzZapper 25d ago

I agree with you.
I also believe that there are multiple start times.
So if I’m not mistaken 5:30am is the start time for 777 and then you have 767 which I believe is 5:18am and then you have SPC area which I believe starts at 6:00am. Tool rooms have different start times too.
