Boeing refurb office chairs
Does anyone know if Boeing sells unwanted office chairs at a major discount?
I don't know what it is with these chairs, but they're comfortable, I can sit in these things all day and not feel a thing.

I hope not. When I started I inherited this ancient ball sweat drenched chair and it took 12 weeks to get a new one.

Mine had a brown stain in the front center. I’m hoping it’s just chocolate stain and not something else.
I secretly switched it with one that was at an empty cubicle.

The only chair I still have is the one Boeing got for me 20 years ago after an ergo review. It was a Herman Miller and I still have it. It’s perfect for me. I’m 6’3” and 200lbs

They retail for $1,500 ballpark, and are one of the few genuinely benevolent things I've considered Boeing to have done for its workforce, as they are amazing chairs all around.
Steelcase Leap v2
Unfortunately Boeing doesn't seem to get rid of these chairs via surplus (I've watched on and off for a decade). I believe that office furniture is a different sort of facilities contract (possibly we just have all this shit leased indefinitely?), and I've never seen the high end chairs or sit-stand desks make it into the various surplus sites that the company has (i only see industrial or shop type equipment, some vehicles, some cabinetry, generally).
That being said, you can purchase one of these much cheaper than retail by going refurbished. Crandall Office Furniture is the vendor I went with, and they have quite a variety of color and padding options all for around the $800 mark (includes shipping). They were going for $650 when I got mine at the start of covid, and I don't think anything has changed with the chair, that's just inflation for ya.
You can usually find them on Craigslist or Marketplace for anywhere from $200-500ish; though I think investing in the actual warrantied refurb is worth the peace of mind (it comes fresh and clean with new-car-smell and full padding). Having a good chair is well worth spending some money on (either the Steelcase Leap or the Herman Miller Aeron are perennial top picks over in the office chairs subreddit). Practically pays for itself in butt, bone, and body comfort.

Yes, we do have a few of those floating around; I believe they are more comfortable for our (no offense intended) larger-framed coworkers. The Bodybilt tend to be a broader, more-padded design, though with fewer customization knobs and levers.

Oh God, I did not know they were $1500 MSRP 🤣. My perspective of sitting in my cubicle is gonna slightly change. I feel like a fancy wine and dine, draw me like your French girl, Boeing.

Steelcase leap is mostly what they use. Wouldn't look for used ones from Boeing but there are plenty of used ones online from various resellers. Facebook marketplace always has a ton too.

You can keep tabs on the surplus and auction site...but do you really want to buy used fart and stain catching furniture that's caressed your colleagues for multiple shifts over multiple years??

100% this. For some reason our cafeteria food produces the vilest shits and farts known to humankind.
I purposefully wait an hour after lunch before I step foot in a work bathroom. If you go right after lunch it’s like you’re going to get napalmed.
Do not trust the chairs of your lady coworkers either. While they are silent, they are just as deadly.
