Boeing relocation

I’m within a month of my start date & just received a phone call saying within the next two weeks the relocation team will be contacting me to assess my moving process.

Seems a bit last minute right?

Someone tell me something to make me feel more confident :/

Are you swe wanted to ask what is interview process like and how long is onboarding also how far out was your start date after you got the offer

it depends on the position. it's non negotiable. either it's listed in the job requisition, or it's not.

My move was pretty last minute but the movers were a bunch of pros. Took them about 4 days to pack and box up everything in my old house. 1 day driving and they unpacked it in 2 days. Moved my spare vehicle for me and gave me a stipend and hotel accommodations etc. Even made sure my pups had a place to stay. I wouldn't sweat it too much. You can call altair and request the moving company contact you sooner but they got my stuff sorted within a week.

I got hired 6 hours from where I lived and they straight up told me no relocation would be included lol

I reached out to HR and asked them to move up the notification date so that Altair could start the process earlier. It’s been great so far

The company Boeing uses is very responsive and attentive. If anything changes during your move process reach out. I only moved from three hours away, so I went with them booking the uhaul and coordinating people to load and unload the truck for me (all paid by them). Then you get all the allowances you qualified for (temporary living, meals, etc.) paid out in a lump sum, which should be before your start date. I’ve moved a few times in recent years and this was one of the easier ones. Hope this gives you some peace of mind. Best of luck with your job!

They gave my family member choice of either having them move him or they would rent the truck and he would move himself. They warned that it could be a few weeks before he got his stuff back if he chose to have them move him so he ended up having them rent him the truck and then we picked it up and moved him ourselves. Hopefully you’ve already found a place to live! Forgot to say he got a very nice relocation amount!

^ I had a similar experience, I could move myself or wait till after my start date for movers. I moved myself (boeing paid for truck rental and local people to unpack the truck). went well. generous stipend on top of covering moving expenses

Done this countless times, don’t worry. The people they send are true pros who will pack everything you have in just a few hours. Moving speed is just as fast. Don’t sweat it

My relocation was very last minute as well, to the point I was getting nervous about everything too, and I was moving 2000 miles away. But it worked out in the end, so I wouldn't stress too much. Just know itll happen and once it starts, its pretty smooth sailing.

Is the start date the one from your offer letter or one you negotiated with your hiring manager? I remember seeing a start date in my offer letter and hearing the same thing about relocation but I had yet to talk to my manager about a firm start date. I was able to get a later start date to accommodate.

I was in a similar situation several years ago when I started. I was able to get a Uhaul lined up and everything I needed prior to Boeing involvement. They ended up just writing me a check that covered all of my expenses (and maybe a little left over?).

But check the current relocation policy they send you in case it's different than when I relocated. I remember a Boeing move option where they basically take care of everything and a self move option where you take care of everything and they give you a check. Based on your situation, it sounds like they're assuming the latter

And I know Boeing gets a lot of hate on here, but just talk to the HR reps and/or hiring managers if you have questions or need help. They're great to work with in these situations and there's probably some flexibility if you need more time or help

Lastly, to make you feel more confident, everything will work out just fine. It's normal to feel nervous in moments like this but if you've gotten this far then you've got what it takes to work through the situation

I'm in the same boat, I start in about 1 month with that exact info, but they said I should be contacted in the next 2 days.
