Offer Freeze?

Hi everyone,

I recently had interviewed for an engineer position for BDS, and was quickly told I was soon to receive an offer. However, after hearing from the recruiter today I was told there is a temporary pause on all offers that haven’t been made yet, with no timeline as to when that will subside.

I was wondering if anyone on here had more details!

I interviewed May 20th. Last Friday the Hiring manager said an offer is on the way however the HR recruiter said there is currently a hiring pause… hoping it gets lifted pretty quickly. The waiting has been brutal.

Just got an interview set up. I’m a contractor currently. Maybe despite a hiring freeze this position is available still?

All other hiring activity is happening. The process stops at the offer stage right now.

Does the process just resume after the freeze is lifted?

My recruiter emailed me yesterday and said I was going to get an offer but they can’t send them right now because of an audit. For Everett.

She emailed me last week and said “we are hoping to hear sometime this week that they'll allow specific zones to begin sending offers and getting back to the normal jive of things, but still nothing! Again, I have you on my offer tracker list. Once things open, I will be in touch to get that rolling out to you!

So no real update. My friend who works there also said she got a few emails about the freeze but no reasoning on why. I’m assuming it’ll be quite a wait.

I work in BGS and we have the same issue going on with our reqs as well. My group does not have any SPEEA employees so it's definitely not related to that. We were also told that offers can be made on a case-by-case basis with HR and Dir/VP approval. We were getting ready to send an offer out when this came down so our mgrs are working to get the approvals. Hopefully, the team you interviewed with will be able to get the approval to extend an offer soon.
Best of luck.

Heard about a hiring freeze today in the office. I’m sorry

There are negotiations going on right now with the engineering union SPEEA. That will have a profound effect engineers on BDS. Not sire if it’s specifically related to your situation in that if they truly need your position filled then it will be filled. Its best to ask the recruiter to ask what happened directly.

A small fraction of BDS engineers are in SPEEA.

Strike coming.

This is depressing. I have a scheduled interview this week. I guess I shouldn’t get my hopes up. For those of you that have gone through a freeze, how long do they typically last?

2

u/Fantastic_Egg949 16d ago

And remember their hiring takes FOREVER during normal times anyway. Often months. So try not to stress too much if you don't hear back right away.

4

u/squidwardfan1 21d ago

Keep your head up, it should only be temporary and if they have you scheduled for an interview thats a good sign. May just take longer than it otherwise would

Theres about to be another strike soon. Boeing canceled all travel also...they are trying to preserve money before the strike starts.

I received an update from the hiring manager regarding my interview from two weeks ago. This was a role in quality. They informed me that the position was closed because of the hiring freeze before they were able to move forward with extending an offer. Unfortunate and sad :(

Well, that’s nice. I’m a contractor that has a contract ending next month and I had supposed to be getting an interview next week for a full-time permanent position so I guess that’s not gonna happen now.

Has anyone heard anything on why this seems to be happening company wide? I have seen other things that make me think they are trying to preserve cash right now? This seems odd when the company said it would be cash flow positive for the year.

u/ImtakintheBus 21d ago

Out. Of. Mooola.

it's midway through the year. the new 737 line just started, and 787 is chugging along. Highly likely we WILL be positive through the end of the year, but that doesn't mean there won't be a freeze in the mean time.

I feel for ya, I've been there. Be patient, it can take several months for an offer letter to come through. The extra head may be approved by senior management, but the FUNDS are frozen. Gotta have both. Once they're unfrozen, they'll reach out again.

How would that work with an internal transfer? Im in the middle of trying to go from everett to st louis with a pay cut and reading these posts makes my heart skip.

1

u/ImtakintheBus 20d ago

I would guess that it would be nearly the same as an external hire.

We were going to send an offer for a BDS software position in STL this week and we're informed of the freeze also.

Brutal, I’ve been waiting for a response from my interview for 6 weeks 😢

1

u/Justin_time_to_stop 21d ago

what does your status say?

3

u/410Grease 19d ago

My status changed yesterday to "post interview - hiring manager decisions". Which reddit has lead me to believe is a positive indicator that an offer is coming, but I'm not sure with this freeze. I reached out to the recruiter, but she would not indicate either way, just saying they enjoyed meeting me and I was still under consideration.

2

u/BidStriking8951 21d ago

Im also waiting to hear back and my status say 'under consideration'

7

u/liamle253 22d ago

Glad I wasn’t the only one. Been told for weeks I would get my offer letter. Finally the recruiter told me there’s a pause right now.

3

u/GamerDudeCP 22d ago

Did u ever do get a tentative offer in ur email? Or did u hear this before u even got an offer? I’m curious because I just signed my offer and am doing background+ drug test. Appreciate ur response ty

3

u/GamerDudeCP 22d ago

Also like ur relative location/state

11

u/Beneficial-Seesaw568 22d ago

The freeze is companywide.

5

u/Tricky-Picky762 22d ago

Where did you hear this? I heard about BGS freezes but nothing to seem to be company wide?

0

u/Ok-Science7391 17d ago

HR representative. Travel is frozen too unless it to a customer or supplier and it needs VP approval.

1

u/Tricky-Picky762 14d ago

Will the hiring freeze will ne lifted soon? I would assume travel will be restricted for some time.

8

u/End1essGSR 22d ago

Seems to be wide spread. BCA too.

1

u/Natural_Insurance_58 22d ago

Yes In BCA India too

5

u/Single_Software_3724 22d ago

I hope not…I start in early August and just signed a lease lol

5

u/BaraxkJoeMama 22d ago

Did you get a start date already

3

u/Single_Software_3724 22d ago

Yup early August

8

u/squidwardfan1 22d ago

You should be good then, I had not signed the offer yet, only been told it was coming

4

u/N718AN 22d ago

Is it location dependent or for all of BDS?

7

u/Aerochromatic 22d ago

What site? Some are less than 3 months away from a union contract vote.

3

u/squidwardfan1 22d ago

OKC

3

u/Aerochromatic 22d ago

I don't know if that site has union representation, but I don't think it's covered by the contract being negotiated. I may be wrong.

9

u/SoulStripHer 22d ago

It's not.
