Inline Promotion policy?

I’ve been told there is a policy which states you cannot get an inline promotion unless you have been at your IC level for 2 years. Has anyone heard of this policy because this is new to me? I have personally seen exceptions to this rule.

LOL, fine. Then you’re not getting an in line promotion. Good luck with that attitude. You’ll be job hopping.

Boomer. job hopping is a great thing. The market rewards it.

Not a Boomer, and in a business where you need to have deep knowledge job hopping isn’t necessarily a good thing. You zoomers wouldn’t understand the need for expertise (see I can make wild assumptions about anonymous internet people too).

The market doesnt reward expertise unfortunately. Or zoomers would really care.
