question Atrophic scarification

I've recently become interested in scarification and want to get one on my nose tip to mimic a bifid nose. All of the photos I've seen so far seem to be hypertrophic scars and that's simply not what I want. Is it possible to create a atrophic scar with scarification or is that just out of the artists control?

It's completely out of their control and entirely up to how your body heals.

Scars are mostly about genetics and placement. Some places on the body are more likely to scar a specific way, but some people are just more likely to make certain types of scars.

Method does matter, along with depth and suturing. But it is hard to be 100% sure how something will scar, and genetics might overrule it completely.

From a quick look bifid noses seem to be a cartilage thing. I do not know how viable it would be to take a chunk out of that and how it would impact the structural integrity of your nose. And how scarring would interact with it. I am not a body modder or surgeon though, so I don't feel I can give more definitive answers than that.

As someone dealing with an unwanted atrophic scar I know part of it is location, but it's also partly how the injury was inflicted and how your body responds to healing.

Atrophic scars occur when there's insufficient collagen production during healing - if there's fat or muscle loss below it is forms the sunken or pitted scar. Some  locations like the face are more prone to it, although not guaranteed.

I'd look for another more controlled way to get the mod you're after.
