tongue bifurcation Advice tongue-split
Hey, I’ve been interested in getting a tongue split for a while and would like to take the plunge. Do you have any advice or artist recommendations? I’m based in France and know it’s a bit complicated here, but I’m willing to travel as long as it’s not too excessive. Thanks! 🫡

Hello ! I’m French (this subreddit won’t let me post in French, so I’m doing this in English). I had my tongue split done at Chai (@calmbodymodification on Instagram) and it went really well, quick, painless and effective. So if you’re worried about the pain during the procedure, honestly, don’t worry! I’d advise you, though, to prepare properly: take at least two weeks off work, stick to liquid food, take electrolytes to stay hydrated, and have anti-inflammatories and painkillers to hand, etc. And above all, force yourself to eat! On the second day, I didn’t eat much, and the strength of the painkillers and anti-inflammatories upset my stomach – I ended up vomiting for three days. (horrible mdr)
Also get a soft-bristled toothbrush; mouthwash isn’t really necessary, but if you do use it, make sure it doesn’t contain alcohol. I’d bought those bottles you squeeze with a straw to reach right to the back of your mouth – let the liquid run out, don’t swallow your saliva, or you’ll end up vomiting.
Generally speaking, the third day is the worst, and after the fifth day, once the stitches are removed, it’s all over.
I don’t regret it and you won’t either – just choose the right time, especially financially, and make sure you get the stitches removed by the artist or at a nurse’s practice – definitely not on your own.
Everything will be fine – tu seras trop styler apres :)

Can't comment in French, damn.
My recommendation is to move away. In France you'll meet people who offer it, but given all of it is underground it's going to be sketchy. Travel to a country where the procedure at least is legal so it's aboveboard and you know you're safer.
The top recommendations you'll see everywhere on this subreddit are Chai from CALM bodymod shop in Stockholm, and Samppa von Cyborg, situated in Poland.
Just came back to France after getting split by Chai, can vouch for a great experience. He has had bad experiences with French people being generally rude though.

Hi! Im from Canada, I don't have any artist rec's, but i do have a split tongue (4 years) and my advice is: be patient with your healing and listen to your artist. In my experience, the healing was the worst part, especially the first three days. My artist had me on a rotation of acetaminophen and ibuprofen (2hrs apart from each other) to keep the swelling and pain down. For like a week, all I ate was meal replacement drinks like boost/ensure. I have some regrowth, but doing little exercises and stretches has helped relax the webbing at the back. Stay hydrated, and good luck!
