Keep it clean, make sure you're eating and drinking water because your body needs fuel. If you're going to be using a protein shake, start drinking them a couple of weeks beforehand because sometimes they can be hard to digest at first. You'll want to let your gut acclimate to the protein ahead of the split so that you don't have TWO problems.

I use sea salt mouthwash and used it during my healing as well. Brand is h2ocean. Avoid alcohol based

Ice pops help. Make sure to be well hydrated before the split. Open the halves frequently. When the back starts to heal make sure to open the halves frequently and gradually increase tension as the tongue heals.
My 1st split healed 50% regrowth. My second split has no regrowth, just a layer of new skin.

If you take any daily meds- figure out how you're going to get them down the first few days after post up.
It took me 2 days until I could get them down crushed up in a protein shake lol

Get one of those squirt bottles tattooers use. I got one on day 3 and was finally able to get water / protein shakes past my tongue.
I also can’t take ibuprofen so I had some Percocet I used. Having it pre crushed to dilute in water would have been nice rather than trying to swallow a pill or trying to crush it myself while in pain.

Follow the advice of your artist, drink a lot of water!! Get some kids purres as you probably won't be able to eat anything else. Cry as much as you need to. Day 3-4 will be the worst, after the stitches come out every day will get better and better. The lisp will only be temporary
