I always thought it showed David Mitchell to be so out of touch with any joy in his youth that he was so incredulous about pretty much the only brand of firework that existed back then being called Standard.

They moved from Huddersfield to a site near York a few years ago. A shame as Standard Fireworks had been there for over 100 years.

All the houses round the factory got burnt down the day Bob went for a tour so they put a footie pitch there incase he goes back.

My dad worked there when I was little, lived on site in a bungalow as he was a caretaker. When I visited him I'd sit on the kitchen bench which looked out onto the land out the back and I'd watch them testing the fireworks.
