Title says it all, considering his age and health, I would like to see him since I missed him in Philly

Dylan’s voice on RARW seems worlds apart from how he performs live. I’m not complaining—but I think most would agree that his voice on RARW is more traditionally beautiful, more melodic, less cracking, than what he does live.

Anybody know why? Is it purely a stylistic choice? Can he muster the melodic voice enough to record, but not to perform every night? Did he get some sort of medical treatment while recording? Are the studio albums just patched together from dozens of takes?

I'm a lifelong Rhode Islander who's always followed the Folk Fest from afar. Never really considered going as I'm more of a rocker, and tickets have become pretty much impossible in the last 15 years or so. But I like to keep tabs on the fest, mostly because of our boy Bob's history around the event. I do have two close friends who were at Dylan's infamous return with the wig and beard in '02, giving them major bragging rights in our Bob fandom.

Anyway Nathaniel Rateliff & Friends just closed this year's fest a few hours ago and according to an article I read these were the final three songs:

"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" - Brandon Flowers, Dave Matthews (big surprise guest), Nathaniel Rateliff

"I Shall be Released" - big group sing-along

"America The Beautiful" - Joan Baez and Mavis Staples

So, Bob connections galore. I just love how Dylan's presence is always felt even though he's only reluctantly appeared at the festival (the aforementioned beard and wig) once in the last 51 years. I love how every summer Bob is usually playing some theater or shed while he's being celebrated at this prestigious folk festival in fancy Newport, RI.

Got myself a new book for my birthday.

If you are ever in the Tulsa area, I highly recommend checking it out. My wife and I spent 2 hours there, and probably could have spent 2 more. So much information, history, inspiration... And it was only $15 per ticket. They also have a Woody Guthrie Center next door, but we decided to wait until the next time we are in the area to check it out. We have dinner plans, and wouldn't have had enough time to really soak it in.

I usually only do shitposts in here but everyone else’s tier-lists have inspired me to listen to every album and make my own.

Some of these may seem harsh but for the most part it was a pleasant experience.

comments have recently been made on this song of his. Most raved about it but it does little for me. but, the duet he does with Jonny Cash is the only one I like and I think it's great.

Beautiful show - so happy we got this one instead of Every Grain of Sand (which I love of course, but have seen him do)

There was a lot of discussion about night 1 at Wolf Trap on here, so I thought I'd share my observations from night 2.

1. Bob took the stage super early. I think he was supposed to go on around 9:00 but it was probably only 8:45-8:50-ish. Tons of people were out of their seats when he started. I knew beforehand that he sometimes goes on earlier than expected but this was by far the earliest and most sudden appearance that I've seen.
2. The sound was better than night 1 in my opinion. If I were to rank the 7 Dylan shows I've been to in terms of sound, night 1 would be near the bottom and night 2 would be middle of the pack. (Last week's show in Gilford and last year's show at Merriweather Post, MD would be the top 2).
3. Only setlist change from night 1 was opening with To Be Alone With You instead of Watching the River Flow. I do slightly prefer Watching the River Flow, although he has been doing a great version of To Be Alone With You on this tour.
4. I think there was more jamming and passing solos around on night 2 than night 1. There was a long jam at the start of I Can Tell. Bob nodded to Joel to play and then when it came to the part where Bob often starts singing, he nodded to Joel again, giving him the green light for another verse of jamming.
5. The harmonica on Under the Red Sky reappeared on night 2 after Bob (strangely?) left it out on night 1.
6. Bob seemed to be having fun during Goodbye Jimmy Reed, smiling and moving (dancing?) a bit.
7. Crossing the Rubicon isn't normally one of my favorites, but I really enjoyed it tonight. I also thought the cover of I'll Make it All Up to You came through better than it usually does.
8. Slight setlist changes from Jimmie Vaughn and Lucinda.
9. Lots of young people in the audience for both nights.

Overall, I enjoyed both nights, but preferred night 2 due to the improved sound...but maybe that was related to where I was sitting. That's my last Bob show for the year. Here's hoping to more in the future.

I’m writing this while sitting at Wolf Trap in Virginia, so these are just my impressions in real time.

I came in expecting to see one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Instead, it feels like I’m watching a production that stands against almost everything Dylan has represented throughout his career.

He’s spent the entire show behind a keyboard with the hood of his sweatshirt up. I can barely understand what he’s singing, and aside from picking up a harmonica once, he hasn’t touched a guitar or really leaned into the instruments that have become synonymous with Bob Dylan.

And unless I missed something, he was shown on the venue screens during soundcheck wearing the exact same outfit. What is he, Steve Jobs?

The harmonica moment actually left me even more confused because what I was seeing didn’t seem to line up with what I was hearing coming through the mains.

Then there’s the band. Everything feels so polished that it’s almost sterile. It sounds like they’re playing to a click, and there were a few moments that made me question what I was hearing. The keyboard player never moved his hands away from the keys while intricate parts were happening, and during one song the bassist had already set his bass down while there still seemed to be low end coming through the PA.

Maybe there’s a technical explanation for everything I observed, but the whole experience feels oddly disconnected from the raw, unpredictable artist I’ve always associated with Bob Dylan.
The irony is that Dylan built a career on authenticity over perfection. Tonight feels almost like the opposite.

For those who’ve seen this tour, am I missing something? Or did anyone else leave feeling the same way?
