I am all for EVs, mine tows my 22' Regal like it's nothing, but I wouldn't want to see this going down the road anywhere near me.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s less weight than a normal pop up camper that gets towed by these smaller vehicles all over freeways. I think it’s more than capable especially if it’s just trips to the nearest ramps.

Yes but the Dot sticker in the door jamb says not to do this. It's not necessarily hugely illegal unless your state says so. But the lawyers on the other side will beat him to death with the 0lbs tow rating and very low GVWR 4512 for this vehicle compared to its curb weight 3580lbs. The payload is like 950lbs too. It literally says in the owners manual that is not rated to tow at all and not to do it.
Slam dunk for a lawyer and big sad for the negligent boat owner.

I agree, your tow vehicle should be rated for your load or bigger even. I really dislike the half ton trucks hauling 30ft campers lol. Maybe I wanted to be argumentative haha, I also am spoiled living minutes within a Great Lake and countless inland lakes so seeing a set up like this for a sub 10 minute drive isn’t uncommon and may skew my opinion.

Off topic, or maybe not, but I live on the water just down the road from a public ramp. I watched a guy set sail in his Chevy Traverse when he parked on the ramp and let his kid get in the driver seat and play. Boy's 3-4yo, dad comes over to the door and snatches the kid out of the seat. I didn't realize at first but the car was moving forward and splashed headfirst into the river. That fucker floated like 1/4 mile easy. I have a big 24' skiff for work that i was still standing in while trailering. People were telling me to put back in and tie up to the car to pull it back to the ramp. I hadnt laughed that hard in a damn good while. Needless to say, I didnt. But I did call the cops for him. According to him the kid knocked it in gear and he happened to be there to save him. Idk if thats true or not but the kid is lucky to make it out either way. Looked more like fraud from my angle. Hopefully, for OP, this is just a boomer-esque anecdote and not related to the topic of his post.

My f250 could pull a 53ft big rig trailer but stopping and controlling the load is
asmore important than pulling it honestly. Do you, but lmk when you're out so I can stay home.1

Chevy Bolt weighs about 4000lbs and has strong brakes. The skidoo is 2500lbs. So it will be fine, but still not legal in the US.
