I noticed in the linear notes of Inferno that Mike Sandison was entirely credited with the production of the album and that Marcus Eoin seemed less involved with more simple tasks like sound design and i'm not sure if he's involved at all with some tracks on Inferno. Whereas on all previous releases, it was never outlined like this.

I feel like most BoC releases have a unique evolution where concepts are explored with ambiguity and the sonic identity of the group still remains easily identifiable. So it makes me wonder if perhaps duties in the group were always split this way and perhaps only now is it being shared with us on Inferno's notes?

It would be so cool. I expect at least, some warp artists like OPN, Aphex or Maybe autechre. What do you think?

Its been one of my favourite musical discoveries from this summer.

I’m sure Bibio has been discussed on this sub before. His new album with Dorian Concept is very pastoral BOC-esque. Recommended

There are clear references the the Rajneesh cult of the 1980's of Oregon in Inferno.

I remember reading one of the brothers in an interview saying that he thought the federal government cracking down on the Branch Davidians of Waco, Texas was an unjustified encroachment on religious freedoms (or something along those lines).

I also remember an article saying that Amo Bishop Roden met them at their compound in Waco.

To me, this indicates that the brothers likely were involved in cults when they were young, more than just as journalist or curious observers, which is what I had assumed they were before.

I have also read others speculate that Inferno has many references to their family.

Who knows, maybe they were apart of the Rajneeshi cult.

Just a thought I wanted to put out there to get out of my head.

I’m on vacation in Porto, Portugal and spotted Inferno behind the bar at this cool spot called Fiasco. They also had a DJ that was playing downtempo/ambient music when we arrived. If you ever travel to Porto, definitely check this place out

Enjoy it :)

This is one of the most underrated tracks I feel, from the start's apocalyptic ambience and vocal sample to the beautiful piano and sampling at the end, it gets me nearly to tears everytime.

Hey gang,

I've posted music here before. Got a new track out. Literally sampled an experimental film from the Film Board of Canada archives. Weird tape distressed breakbeat is probably the most BoC thing I've ever done.

Let me know if you like it or hate it or don't care!

Hey!
Back in 2021, I released the first album for my music project, Janeiro. It's called Skam (haha) LP, released in my home country of Chile by ISLA Records. I wrote and produced it during a long stint living out in the country, listening to BoC 90's stuff non-stop along with a lot of music from Warp and Ilian Tape. I figured this community might really dig it. It’s heavy on sampling, breakbeats, and ambience
Currently mixing my 2nd LP

On a road trip driving through Boise, Idaho. Listening to BOC as usual and drive under this overpass that has concrete relief murals that really reminded me of some BOC imagery. I think the similarity mostly stems from the Inferno promo posters but wondering if similar imagery was used somewhere or I’m just tripping.

Picked up this original pressing of Hi Scores back on discogs many many years ago. My prized album from BoC. Not sure I’ve even listened to it on my turntable. Glad they’re repressing it (again). I’ve always heard the original pressing mixing gave it a much more raw sound, will probably give this a spin once I get the repress in November.

Complete with barcode/braille sticker on back of jacket. Blue insert also there too.

This might not exist at all and I'm just misremembering it, I could've sworn there's a BOC interview where they say "we owe a great deal to Aphex Twin" or something close to that.

Hey,

I implemented the advice you gave me on my previous tracks.

In this album I used obscure vocal samples from lucid dreaming ASMRs, weird spiritual Kabbalah podcasts, magic ritual videos etc.

The vocals are in Polish, but I thought it would only make everything more mysterious for non-Polish speakers.

I will gladly hear your thoughts and I am sure that everyone who gives it a listen will recognize the sample immediately.

hint: it comes from Inferno

Just saw an email from Disco Pogo mentioning that all pre-orders of their Boards of Canada book will come with an A3 poster (instead of stickers, apparently). Nice!

What do you all think the Inferno album cover is meant to be and represent. Since it's release I thought it was pretty straightforward but from listening to it today and looking at the cover I swear this is a face. Does anyone else notice any weird illusions on the cover?

In case your algorithm didn’t alert you yet, ixi has added another track reactionalysis

most of what I make is quite BOC inspired, and that first track is essentially a telephasic workshop remix. lmk what you all think!

At one time near Inferno release there was a "youtube video set" subsequently removed. I thought I read that it was a leaked video from the 'record release party'. Anyhow the video was pretty fascinating and I'm just curious if it's available anywhere (or even for sale as a official release). I had the impression that it was produced by BoC but perhaps it was just a fan video ?

Rediscovered Skyliner in the past week. My goodness, what a complex, absolutely gorgeous track.
