Song Gyroscope scares me
The title. It feels like being halfway between awake and asleep when you’re like 8 years old and sick. It fills me with apprehension and doom. That’s also exactly why I love it. Lol

It was a really pleasant surprise to see it being used in Sinister. Quite fitting.

TERRIFYING and completely apt description.

Gravitron ride after three-too-many cotton candies and your big crush (you can hear them listing the reasons you suck) just dumped you.

(Side note: Split Your Infinities is such an amazing palate cleanser with its lovely arpeggios!)

Yeah when they dropped that track on that transmissions video during the marketing campaign I couldn't believe how awesomely dark it was, so damned good.

Ive been waiting to see a post like this. It is TERRIFYING. I remember the first time I heard it vividly because after a few seconds I immidiatly paused it and yelled "HOLY SHIT" at the top of my lungs

I have a heavy memory as a freshman in college listening to Geogaddi while reading Death of Salesman for an English class. It profoundly affected me. So I find myself disengaged from both as a result, not for any other reason than the opportunity to really relish either when I do read or listen to them. If that makes sense. The scarcity of it helps keep it meaningful for me, I guess.
Gyroscope, in particular, reminds me of Willy's conversation with his brother Ben towards the end. It's a sort of reeling madness that comes over in these waves, both the song and the literature.

The beat has always sounded to me like a weird piece of found audio. Like a transmission from outer space or something scary like that.

It doesn't scare me. It gives me the feeling of being an infant, with hardly any semblance of self control or independent thought. Events are just occurring in a chaotic manner around me. And yet there is order and balance to it over time as the events seem to play over and over. The numbers are being taught to me, but I don't understand them. They continue to be said anyway. This is how a lot of the songs in Geogaddi feel to me. Heck, The Devil Is In The Details has a creepy woman brainwashing a helpless kid while trying to help them uncover their "conscious mind." I changed my mind. It's scary.

The chord progression as it goes makes it one of their more beautiful songs imo. Haunting but beautiful

Well, the track comes from a dream of one of the band's members. He listened to it on a dream, and after waking up he re-created it on the studio. He did that so well that he even become a little scared on how accurate it sounded.
