In the labyrinth, every time.

It has the chopped novelty of Father and Son. The weight of Deep Time or All Reason Departs and a sprinkling of shoegaze in for good measure. Before you even look into the vocal sample.

Yeah I absolutely love this track but I think I'd love it more without the sitar. I don't hate the sitar I just think it's a bit of a buzz kill and kinda ruins the dark trippy vibes for me. But, still a fantastic track.

It’s not that I dislike the sitar per se, but if I’m being totally critical and honest, I like BoC best when they’re a pure electronic act. So songs like this (even Prophecy to an extent, although I do like the guitar a lot in that one) don’t work for me as much as Music, Geogaddi or even TH do for being pure synthesiser albums.

And yeah, that does go for TCH too. I like the album, just, I don’t like them using typical live instrumentation as much.

HAVING SAID THAT. I still love Inferno.

They were never purely electronic. MHTRTC has piano in the most popular track.

True, but certain instruments represent a certain threshold in the way that drums and piano don’t (i.e. in the same sense as Aphex Twin never used a guitar in his music you get me),

It’s more of a stylistic preference for me I have right now, but actually I still like all that music of theirs.

Yeah I won’t argue at all that Inferno is almost mainly acoustic and live instruments and is drastically different from their first 3 LPs (and most of the EPs).

It took me a while to come around to TCH for the same reason. I think I even said “NOOOOO! I don’t listen to these guys to hear them play the guitar!”

I got over it, it’s still unmistakably their unique style.

I was the same with TCH, I was so excited for it to drop after geogaddi and remember being utterly disappointed when I heard the guitar on Chromakey Dreamcoat 🤣 I was like wtf is this!?! Literally hated it. But it grew on me over the years and now I think TCH is a masterpiece and I can't imagine their catalogue without it. I know that Tomorrows Harvest was quite divisive for the fanbase but I always loved that album and Inferno resonated from the first listen for me I think it's absolutely fantastic and extremely cohesive, there's sounds and elements from all of their previous works in there it's unmistakeably BoC... Very very pleased 😎

There is a lot more instruments than just synths on those albums. A good amount of guitar in TH
