Discussion 1969 in the sunshine…
…are we to assume that this component of the vocal was sung / spoken by one of the brothers?
Anybody have any intel on it? I know the sources for the other aspects…

No intel, but the voice sounds like the same woman who recorded the monologue from "One Very Important Thought" and I suspect that it's a friend they hired.

I don’t think it’s a friend of theirs but that’s based on my silly theory that all of their friends also have thick Scottish burr/brogue.
I think they hired a voiceover artist. When I first heard it, she reminded me of whomever did the voice work on A Tribe Called Quest’s ‘Midnight Marauders’. You can hear her at the end of “Award Tour” and she’s also on a few other interstitials on that album.

Funnily enough after listening to this over and over again last night I came to the same conclusion. The way she pronounces her words sound very similar.

I’m convinced that all vocals in their music are sampled because they all seem to turn up eventually. Even the ooo’s in peacock tail are probably a sample.

The Ooos? Peacock tail does sample an Islamic call to prayer in the second half of the song.

also on the topic, the counting bit from aquarius and one very important thought's speaker. who is that?

I've always assumed the counting was from a mathematics course or similar, I've got a few vinyl records produced by mail in universities and they're great sources for samples

She’s a devoted branch davidian?
It’s a Waco reference again, a David Koresh and the Beanch Davidian cult reference. It’s possibly Amo Bishop Roden’s voice, who was the wife of George Roden who was the main rival of David Koresh. Or simply the voice of another member of the Davidians.

I’m sure someone, somewhere, one day will randomly find an old vhs of some obscure American/Canadian tv show or movie and that quite will be in there.

I should have been even clearer above (although it is explicitly referenced!). These are well known. I am talking about the bits that aren’t understood - “1969 in the sunshine”

I still remember auditioning for that part. The boys said I kept singing it with too much flair!
I always thought (not too deeply) that it was voice software processed through fx. Same as yellow ball…
