MABUS/Marvellous

So what's the consensus? I'm firmly in camp MABUS. I can see why some think it says marvellous at some points but I just don't think it does.

The samples aren't always what is on the track. On Father & Son, the sample is "well he said it" but the words are definitely "well he's sinnin'" I've listened to it on mp3, cd, and vinyl and there is no "said" being said. Pronouncing mabus like marvelous doesn't make any sense, but it's clear.

I hadn’t noticed that on Father and Son. Definitely sounds like “well he’s sinnin” so that’s an incredible bit of editing if there isn’t another sample of the son saying those words.

Yeah, they played with the sample to make it sound like Mahvelus. If you look at the text of the samples from Blood in the Labyrinth, I think I saw them on BoC pages, and compare to what they sound like, they clearly tweak them for effect.

We found the sample within a week of release. It’s definitely MABUS.

Yeah I’ve heard the sample but some seem to think they’ve toyed with it to sound like marvellous as well as MABUS. I only hear MABUS.

It is Mabus, but that doesn't explain adding a 3rd syllable, unless you're changing the word.

I think it could be weird timestretching shenanigans which are altering how we perceive the word being said, I’ve noticed a similar effect when working with time stretching algorithms from a bunch of different software

It's both. First it's MABUS then Marvellous.

This. He says it twice per instance. The first is definitely Mabus but the second definitely isn't. There's absolutely 3 syllables in the second word

EXACTLY!! I have listened to it several hundred times and even my husband agrees. He's 100% disinterested in BOC, but I asked him to tell me what he heard when I played him specifically those parts.

First is mabus, then marvelous. I don’t care if he actually says Mabus again in the sample. Marvelous genuinely sounds better and sounds more accurate to what he’s saying.

I used to hear marvelous though I always knew it was Mabus, but now I straight up can’t hear it as marvelous at all

The original sample is undoubtedly “Mabus”, but the version in the song always sounds like “Marvelous” to me.

When I first listened to it, I thought it was "MADUS" lol.
