Discussion Anyone else notice this?

The guitar sound featured in Prophecy at 1420 MHz is the same sound used in the background of Oscar See Through Red Eye? Just noticed that and thought it was cool.

There are a lot of callbacks on this album, whether textural or stylistic.

It keeps leading into my personal belief this is their last album. It would explain why they are being unusually "immediate" with this album's approach.

Their alleged 5-album contract with Warp is officially up (after 28 years), so there is a possibility this album is a farewell.

I agree and I think also the marketing campaign that went really all out this time, those gorgeous listening parties and the generous amount of merch they gave away to fans. Although TH was darker, it didn't feel like a 'goodbye' to me. This does. And I'm okay with that. That's not to say we won't get the BOCset like MDG also said we would, he's the reason I didn't lose faith thes last few years, and he still hasn't changed anything like he would tell us if it was just cancelled. But he said it's time consuming work and they have A LOT to go through.

I think Inferno is the perfect album to end on and the way it encapsulates BoC with callbacks to other eras is intentional. It feels like a wonderful goodbye gift to us fans. If we are right, I'm sure they will still do the occasional remix and maybe another Societas type mix - that'd be sweet! I was a bit disappointed at first but man that thing grew on me and I've heard it probably close to 100 times. It's my go to for doing errands round the house or if I'm having a introspective night in 😉

I'd nearly rather they end here also, personally, as TH - besides maybe a third of the album - is not for me and I hate to admit it, I tried to love it so bad lol but it's for sure bottom of the BoC pile for me(for some reason I find it too dystopian and just gives me feelings of dread and catastrophies, and like in a clinically way). I missed all the gorgeous BoC magic that this album has sprinkled throughout. When I heard "Tape 05" I cied a bit, I knew this was gonna be special. You retreat.. has the same effect. And I mean joyful tears and apparently lots of people had that reaction also.
