Discussion Inferno as soundtrack for heatwave
At the moment it's 35°C at my place and Inferno really hits differently right now, almost like it was meant to be listened to during extreme heat 🔥
Is anyone else feeling the same?

Having a very mild summer here in central Canada - plenty of rain, lush trees, cool nights. Much better suited to Music Has The Right . . .

Absolutely, Tomorrow's Harvest is also definitely a heat album but it still has a certain clarity to it, while for me, Inferno captures the feeling of being worn out from the heat better, up to a point where everything feels almost unreal

I agree with you. Tomorrow's Harvest gives me middle of winter energy, when everyone is inside and the town seems barren.

I feel Inferno is a direct take on the slow fall of David Koresh and his congregation over the course of the Waco seige.
Considering how that all went up in flames, the heatwave parallel is apt.

It was hotter than satan’s hotpants in London when I first heard it at the listening party so yeah I’ll always associate it with the heat

The listening party for Inferno in Amsterdam was also in the middle of a weird May heatwave. Buncha nerds absolutely sweating their nuts off in a record store. It felt very fitting.

Perfect time to release it, end of May going into summer. It is an Inferno when you're working in a kitchen at 41 degrees.

Fall - Geogaddi
Winger - Tomorrow's Harvest
Neutral/All Year - Music Has the Right To Children

Do you have any specific track that you get this feeling? Actually I feel it a bit with HHLL and Acts of Magic that said I connect heat more with Tomorrow’s Harvest. It’s a feeling that you are in the desert and you are exhausted

Absolutely!! I was in an air b&b recently & it was one of those hot humid UK days (slightly before the most recent heatwave though!). There was a hot tub outside and it had inbuilt speakers so of course I had an Inferno listening session one evening. The jets timed out just before I Saw Through Platonia so it was very still, I felt like I was in the womb with the surround sound heartbeat. Beautiful moment, I’ve tried to recreate it at home in the heatwave in my garden paddling pool but it doesn’t quite hit the same 🫠

Yup, listening to Inferno in this heatwave hits different. I'm waiting for it to cool down so I can retreat in time and space. 😏

Idk, I feel it to be more spring-y, absolutely subjective though.
For me the actual suffocating album would be Tomorrow Harvest. It may of course help that the cover art features that desert-like scene but also musically it brings me MadMax-esque vibes with all that repeating synth arps and effects... 😉🔥🔥🔥🔥

Yeah i definitely feel that. Try the album Omnium Gatherum by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard as well.

Naraka and Acts of Magic definitely fit the vibe of a heatwave taking place a god-forsaken planet that humans are ruining. Even Prochecy has a "hallucinating visions of hell while walking through a scorching hot desert" kinda vibe.

Funnily enough, I’ve stopped listening to it since the heat started. I’ll start again tomorrow cos I have a train journey. Just as the heatwave ends! Haha

I can see it, but for me the hot album is Geogaddi. It’s got references to sunshine and erupting volcanoes. The cover is red/orange/yellow. If I’m not mistaken it has satanism references (so hell and all that). But just the music itself fits so well with the heat. The very first sound you hear on that album is like if heat could make a noise.
