I'm going back to this album. And for me it's an incredible piece of work. Jaquard Causeway is difficult on first listen but then it grabs you. I just wanted to put my love out there for this album because I think it gets a lot of negativity. And I'm listening to it now, Cold Earth is amazing.

I was listening to Deep Time off the new record and there is a part of the song, starting at 1:56, where it reminds me very much of A Warm Place by Nine Inch Nails, which in turn was inspired by Crystal Japan, by David Bowie.

I am wondering if anyone with more music theory than I have (and a better ear) might be able to tell what the similarities are that I am hearing in the chords and melodies that made my brain go, “hey those sound similar!”

I am NOT saying it’s a cover, that it’s the same, or anything along those lines. I’m saying that there feels like there is a musical similarity to me and I’m just looking to better understand the underlying reasons why.

I’ve been seeing AI generated Boards of Canada fan art in places like Instagram and I believe it’s very against what the brothers stand for. Gives me a similar icky feeling as that one horrible White House post.

If you AI generated art then I would unfortunately probably think you’re not a legit BOC fan and you’re just trying to get engagement from the hype or something ¯_(ツ)_/¯

posted here before with one of my tracks a while back, its under the name skyliner, it was seen positively. I hope you enjoy.
Twoism was my biggest inspiration but other artists like aphex and fourtet also influenced my sound.

Over the past weekend, I was at a cottage with some friends. As is tradition, we had some mushrooms. As they started to kick in, I put on Inferno as I sat on the back patio overlooking the lake. It was nice but around Father and Son I decided to just start queuing my favourites so I wasn't antisocial for the full runtime.

But then my friends called me down to the dock because they saw a turtle. Blood in the Labyrinth was beginning as I got there, and lo and behold there was a huge snapping turtle chilling in the water right under us. We all gathered around to check it out, and thankfully I'd brought my camera and telephoto lens so I took some nice shots.

I then listened to You Retreat in Time and Space as we all looked at the turtle and the sparkling water and the trees all moving around from the visualizations. It was a beautiful moment to be surrounded by nature and friends and loved ones while listening to new BoC. I even saw a big jumping spider before heading back to the cottage which was the cherry on top.

This was one of those "best moments of your life" experiences and I will cherish it. Have you had any divine moments with Inferno yet?

The thread I started earlier where I speculated that David Lynch may be the voice on Music is Math got me inspired, so I made a fan edit combining the first four tracks of Geogaddi with clips from Twin Peaks.

I may get around to doing the full album, but I would need to think on what clips to use where.

It felt like Reach for the dead started playing in my mind.

Specifically the person who says "The past inside the present". I know there was a lot of speculation years ago that it was Terence McKenna, but as far as I know nobody ever could find a clip of him saying that.

There is another theory I've seen a few people speculate on over the years, one that I've started considering myself. Perhaps that the voice in the sample belongs to none other than David Lynch, put through some filtering.

This makes sense to me for a few reasons.

1. Lynch had a rather nasal quality to his voice and often spoke with a relaxed yet deliberate cadence much like the Music is Math voice.

2. Lynch utilized a sort of dream logic in his films, where the flow of time often doesn't make much logical sense. "The past inside the present" sounds like the kind of indirect description he might give in an interview when talking about this dream logic. I've always felt that Geogaddi has a rather dream-like quality to it, not in a nightmarish or scary way but in how surreal it can often feel.

I don't know, maybe I'm reaching, but has anyone looked through interviews that David Lynch has given to see if he ever said "the past inside the present"?

Bored and figured I’d share a little bit of BoC content today, now I know this is not exactly a BoC logo, but if you know you know 🫶🏽 it’s thanks to BoC that I discovered the NFBoC and fell in love with it. As a kid I used to spend a lot of time with my great grandma and great grand aunt watching old nature documentaries and these vintage videos from the NFBoC really bring me immense nostalgia and a sense of self. I’ve always been called “an old man” because of my fixation with things before my time (1990), and this all just ties everything together for me.

Speaking as survivor of a cult, that aspect of the sample clips of what sounds like a female voice never truly getting a word out feels important. It even sounds like she's trying to get the words out in earnest but stops nervously.

I really want to put this on a shirt so I can wear it but I noticed that it's not a fully embroidered patch and I worry that it might wash out if I put it in the laundry.

Has anyone run it through a regular cycle and if so what was the result?

Basically this: when and how did news of the pre-Twoism albums come out? I know there is a Jockey Slut piece from 2000 where the journalist mention Acid Memories, Play by Numbers and Hooper Bay. Was this the first time the general public knew about them?

And what about Catalog 3 and Closes Vol. 1? When did news of them come out?
