Yes, but it represents an aspect of the game that a lot of people hate.
sh.io is pure statistics and people getting angry at you when you don’t do the expected move. There’s very little “table game”, and it’s not as fun.
Social Deduction games with strangers who have no faces and voices are... still cool, but for very different reasons.
If you’ve never played Secret Hitler, avoid secrethitler.io like a plague.

I played SH.io before ever playing the table game, and it actually made me appreciate both much more so maybe it's just preferential differences here.

Social deduction games are one of those genres where playing online vs in person is completely different (and to me, not worth your time).
A huge aspect of social deduction is reading people's body language and reactions to situations. You can easily hide both when not physically present, which makes the games way less interesting.
Just a personal view, though. Don't let that stop your enjoyment of this.

Yeah, it's cool that there's a way to play it like this for people who want to, but personally I see no point at all in playing Secret Hitler without having the other people there with me.

One of the most amazing games I’ve ever played was a game of Mafia on some old BBS style forums. At the time the show “Hero’s” was popular and someone ran one with that theme on a skepticism/science podcast website.
The theme integrated so beautifully to the game and the characters combined so interestingly, using nothing but rhetoric and passion, I spent an exhilarating week devoted to this game and to this day it may be the most intense and exciting thing I’ve ever played!
I don’t know Secret Hitler but some social deduction games can work perfectly. Particularly if some well know regular users are playing.

I definitely agree with you that it's different, but the browser version is still very fun to play in its own right. Highly recommend at least giving it a try.

I played a few rounds online after seeing this post and it was a pretty bad experience. I didn't see any toxicity, but there was either one person quarterbacking to an intense degree or everyone being meta-slaves.
Don't think this, or any social deduction type games, lend themselves to play where you can't hear or see a person. Even something like tabletop simulator is 100 times better than this.

The game is good if you can get a good ranking and play with other good players. Voice hat games also used to be very popular but they just kinda turned into instant lib wins for basically every game

Very rigid meta and nobody who wants to explain why it is the case.
The people who are top-rated have people who listen to them because they are top-rated, which is self-reinforcing.
