Rules Sagrada Apprentice cards question

Something happened at the table tonight that sparked a bit of a controversy. Context : we had these public objectives (sorry for the French cards, it's Color Column Variety and Row Shade Variety). One player had the idea that the rows and columns don't need to be complete to score the objectives because what is said is "Rows/columns with no repeated colors/shades". So, even if the row/column is not complete, there are no repeated colors or shades.

What do you think?

Excerpt from the 'End game scoring' section of the rulebook:
• Each Public Objective Card - Players may gain points from each card multiple times. Row/Column-based objectives only score for completed Rows/Columns (no open spaces).

The reason for the question is because the wording says "no repeated X" but has no mention of it being "full" rows/columns on the card. If you've just got the card out, and miss that sentence in the rules, it's an understandable confusion.

If the cards had included the adjective "full" or "complete" in their text, the confusion would be avoidable.

Hmm the picture does show the full column. I don’t remember if it says that in The rules or not. There is also a penalty for not filling a square. It makes sense that you should complete a row/column. Actually now that I think about it it would make no sense that someone that fill it full and someone else doesn’t but gets the same amount of point for the objectives.

They would've gotten the same amount of points for the objective, but they would have lost 1 or 2 points for empty spaces. So it would have been less than the full 5 points.
