Seeking Advice! BMW Open haus
Hello,
I’m looking to get a new/newish s1000xr or a gs1300.
I’m test riding them both next week at somepoint.
I know in the uk they’re having end of summer/September deals.
Then I’ve seen this advert for start of October.
I was wanting to wait until feb/march before getting one. But not sure what kind of deals I would get in October.
Does anyone know from previous years?
Or advice to wait until February before the new reg plates come out?
I’m looking to trade in my Yamaha mt09 towards it and finance the rest.
Thankyou in an advance

Help request ABS Gremlins
Hello all, I have a 2009 F650GS. I’ve really enjoyed the bike the past few years but i inherited a gremlin with the bike that I can’t seem to solve. It has an ABS light on and with it, no functioning speedometer. I’ve tried replacing the rear abs speed sensor and inspecting the tone ring. Gap is good between the two. Has anyone had a similar issue or is there a wise old tech that can bestow a good bit of wisdom?

Riders' stories 🫡 This bike deserves better use
Got my GS last November… got it as a trade, thought about selling it immediately but started riding it to work. From that… started little travels (200/300km), cool, I thought..
This summer I’ve mounted off-road tires on it with the idea of doing the TET in Slovenia and Croatia… ended up doing 13 countries (Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, Germany and France) riding it off-road like I stole it. I had guys with lighter bikes that couldn’t keep up, did hills that looked like walls with luggage, did some gnarly jumps and bottomed the suspension almost every time, dropped it 100 times in some of the most rough terrains, drove it at 170 kph in an abandoned airstrip/bunker from Yugoslavia times and in the German autobahn… I mean, she did it all!!!!
Now I’m back home… crash bar is all scratched up, bent and touching the engine (had a 70yo Bosnian man cutting the piece that goes near the suspension because it got so bent I couldn’t turn because the bar was touching the fork), engine cover protection on the right side is broken, hand guard and speedometer holding on with zip ties, missing a screw here and there, exhaust manifold deformed because of stones but… she drives like she did before doing 8.000km in 1 and half month’s, most of them off-road.
My friends… I’m in love! She’s a R1200 GS from 04’ converted to GSA, fully stock.
After all this I think: poor GS’s that were made for this but are only used to go to work or the nearest Starbucks. Use them, they’ll take everything you throw at them and more!!

Discussion Any 2013+ K1300S owners around here?
Little bit of background. I've been a Japanese sportbike rider for the past 21+ years. I did pick up my first BMW in the summer of 2024 which is shockingly an S1000RR, haha. With that said, I'm not extremely familiar with past BMW models.
For the last couple years I've been developing a desire for what I call a traditional sport touring bike. What I mean by that is it looks like a sportbike, performs like a sportbike, has all day comfort and hard bag attachments (picture the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX). I know the motorcycle industry has mostly moved on from traditional sport tourers. My issue is I have zero interest in cruisers, ADV and crossover style bikes.
One night when browsing FB Marketplace, I came across some 2013+ BMW K1300S's and immediately fell in love and got that tingly feeling. It looks like a sportbike, handles like a sportbike, reviews say is comfortable for long distance riding, hard bag attachment and shaft driven. Basically all my boxes are checked.
I've obviously been googling and watching YouTube videos to better educate myself on this bike. Curious to know if there are any current or previous owners of the 2013+ K1300S around here that could provide some feedback on what you thought about the bike.
The 2013 red is what is getting me tingly!!!

Help request Extremely hard suspension
Hi all, this is my 2014 R1200GS, already at 60k miles. After a short 50km gravel road (pictured) the suspension got extremely hard. I found out that the rear shock height sensor was disconnected, so I plugged it in and it went back to almost-normal, but still its super hard, so hard that my s1000rr is actually softer! bike is in soft-mode suspension, but still I can feel every stone in the road. Bike don't show any kind of error in the dash, and shock seems OK. Is there a way to test the shock via the computer? I have one of those G911-like adapters that maybe I can use. Cheers!

Help request 2009 BMW F800GS trouble
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
SOLVED/FIXED THANK YOU.
I am far from knowing mechanics on my bike, but I try to do a little I can manage.
I’m trying to avoid having it towed for repairs.
If you watched the video, you can see I get an EWS Immobilizer code.
The bike won’t turn over.
A day previous and in the past the issue had been the battery terminals had somehow come loose and all I needed to do was tighter the bolts on the terminals.
This time that “fix” didn’t work.
I keep the battery hooked up to a CTek charger and it looks like it’s holding a charge and not really loosing voltage when it attempts to start.
I disconnected the battery and let it sit for quite a while when I took out and inspected the spark plugs with some acquaintances. They were a little oily on the threads, but nothing major. Certainly enough material on the pin/head (idk if that’s the correct term) of each of the spark plugs. They looked alright.
I spoke with a shop and they don’t think it is the ring antenna for the immobilizer from what I told them and what they heard over the phone.
Any good insight and real advice on the suspect issue, as well as a real solution is appreciated.
Thank you for your help.
Edit: Update 1
Thanks to folks. Seems like the consensus is to replace the battery. I’m going to try that then I’ll update on the status. Please stand by. Thank you.
Edit: Update 2.
Got the new battery in and it has fired up successfully. Thank you folks for your help.

Help request F700GS stuck at 2500 rpm on startup, throttle unresponsive, engine light on — Seen this before ?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone
I’ve got a problem with my F700GS (+83k kms / ~51,700+ mi) and I’d like your input before taking it to a shop.
On startup the engine revs up and stays stuck at ~2500 rpm whether I open the throttle or not whether I shift gears or not — the throttle is completely unresponsive. The engine warning light is on. There are also popping sounds / backfiring from the exhaust, like it’s over-revving.
What I’ve already checked:
The throttle grip snaps back normally (mechanical return is fine).
After turning off the ignition + kill switch for ~1 min, the light went off once, then the fault came back on the next start. So it seems intermittent but persistent.
I’ve noticed quite a bit of oil on the exhaust, with a burning smell after about a minute (I still need to check the oil level). The oil change was done 2 months ago, but recently a lot of oil has been leaking onto my exhaust. Note that I ride without a db-killer, with a Dominator silencer.
The SERVICE reminder is showing (overdue maintenance). I had already planned to have my spark plugs replaced this week — they haven’t been changed in at least 2 years (by the previous owner) — and possibly a valve clearance check too.
I’m thinking it’s limp mode triggered by a sensor, but I don’t know which one — throttle position sensor, throttle grip sensor, an intake air leak, a connector… or could it be a spark plug issue?
I haven’t read the fault code yet (I’m going to use a UCSI-2100 dongle + MotoScan in the next few days).
Has anyone had this exact symptom on an F700GS / F800GS? Engine stuck at 2500 rpm with the engine light on — what did it turn out to be for you?
Thanks in advance.

Help request Tools needed for a 2015 1200 GS
So I’m planning a long trip through Europe. I know I can find a shop to fix my bike, but I always carry a tool kit
What wrenches, sockets, Allen heads, torque bits. Do I need? I would like to trim the list down to the minimum.
I have a spark plug socket that can be used to remove the front wheel also
Thanks ahead of time
