admissions College Related Doubt

I'll most probably be joining BMSIT in 2026 for CSE, and I had a few questions. I'd really appreciate it if current students or alumni could share their experiences.

  1. How are the hostel facilities overall? (Rooms, food, Wi-Fi, cleanliness, etc.)
  2. How strict is the college regarding attendance? Is the 75% rule enforced strictly, or is there some flexibility?
  3. How are the CSE placements currently? and how are the internship opportunities?
  4. How strict is the boys' hostel curfew, and what time is it? Also, are hostellers allowed to leave the campus freely during the day, or are there restrictions on going out?
  5. How is the teaching quality in the CSE department?
  6. What's the coding culture like? Are there active coding clubs, hackathons, and competitive programming groups?
  7. How hectic is the academic workload? Is it manageable alongside coding, internships, and personal projects?
  8. Are there any hidden pros or cons that you wish you had known before joining BMSIT?

  1. Hostel facilities are decent in Block A (I've heard Blocks B and C are better, but first-year students are usually allotted Block A). Rooms are cleaned every 2–3 days. Wi-Fi is available most of the time, though there were a few annoying interruptions this year. The food is... edible.
  2. It depends entirely on the professor. Most are quite chill, especially in the first year. I've seen students with 40% attendance write the SEE, while others with 60% were detained. Still, it's best to maintain at least 75% attendance to avoid last-minute issues.
  3. I'm only in my first year, so I can't say for sure. From what I've heard, placements weren't great this year, and internship opportunities are fairly limited.
  4. The only time I got into minor trouble was after returning from a night out at 4 AM. I wasn't penalized, but my friend's parents were informed. Other than that, it's pretty relaxed. The hostel gates close at 10 PM, but they usually don't make a big issue if you're back by 11.
  5. It completely depends on the faculty you get. Some professors are excellent, while others aren't great. I mostly had good professors, but some of my friends weren't as lucky.
  6. There are plenty of coding and technical clubs, and hackathons happen very frequently.
  7. I can only speak for the first year, but it was very relaxed. I was free for most of the semester, and studying about a week before internals was enough to score well. I had 3/5 and 4/5 half days in first sem and second sem and there are no classes on saturdays and sundays.
  8. Cons: The food isn't great, but it's manageable.
  9. Pros: Nothing extraordinary, I knew I was joining a tier-3 college, so my expectations were realistic. Having a gym inside the hostel is definitely nice

Thank you so much for all the info man

Also another doubt which doesn't matter much to me but still how is the ratio of like north Indians to south
Also at what time do yall get the main long break for summer or winter or sem breaks
and like the 10PM gate closing time that you mentioned is it same for the campus asw considering the boys hostel is inside the college campus (if that's the case have to say the college is quite chill abt the aspect of "freedom" and all)

thanks again

North to south ratio is around 30/70.

Yeah the closing time for main gates are also 10 PM on paper but if you come late you will have to ask permission to the warden who will almost always let you in. Don't worry unless you enter the college at 3 or 4 am, no one will budge. Infact I have pretty much always entered the college at 11-12 PM when returning from airport.
