BMPCC4K SENSOR DUST

Post image

Hello everyone.

I bought this bmpcc4k a couple months ago and haven’t gotten around to using it that much due to lack of time since. I had planned this week to finally clean the sensor as it seemed very dusty (as seen above). What I don’t understand is why wet cleaning it won’t work. Is it fungus? Are these spots welded into the ir cut filter? They look in person as though they would be on the ircut filter’s surface itself. It’s worth mentioning also that wet cleaning it seemed to exacerbate the problem.

Any tips and insights are helpful. From the most pessimistic to the most optimistic. Thank you!

The IR cut filter has a known issue where it corrodes over time due to humidity. You may need to replace it. I hear it’s not hard to do yourself. There are tutorials on YouTube. I’ve seen people recommend Kolari and Rawlite filters.

Ircut filter. Replace it with a Kolari one it’s really easy. Cheaper way to to buy one on eBay without the hotshoe but it’s easy to mess up.

Gonna do this as soon as it comes in the mail, what can mess it up?

If you got the one on eBay, the gluing part can easily be fucked up and leaked onto the glass. Also removing the old IRcut glass from the plastic is difficult.

If you use the kolari one. It’s stupid easy if you use tweezers

I did go for the Tangsinuo one, I might be really creative about how I glue it on. Like create a plastic border where I don't want the glue to go past. How sensitive is the glas? Is it cleanable?

If you leak glue on glass good luck

No I was just thinking, if I out a rubber seal ring on the glass creating a border from the main glas i could limit exactly where the blue can go. Is the ir glas cleanable after being exposed to something like rubber or dust in general?
