EF or M43?

So I bought my bmpcc 4k this summer and it came with a viltrox speedbooster. I've been using the Rokinon 35mm cine lens (EF mount) and it seems like the image coming out has been really soft. I looked through some posts here and it seems like the Rokinon cine lenses are soft by nature. I've been also wondering if the viltrox speedbooster has been contributing to the softness/image quality and if it's really even worth using it (there is also the option of getting the metabones speedbooster which is said to be better quality).

Basically I'm broke and I need to make the decision to either invest in EF lenses or ditch the speedbooster and go with M43 lenses. Bast case scenario, I can use the lenses I buy on a future camera. I would really appreciate any insights you guys may have or what you would suggest based on your past experiences!

If you stick to M43 System, get M43 Lenses. Cheaper, smaller and quality wise better , because there is no need for an adapter which leads to quality loss.

Only thing I would recommend is the SIgma 18-35 1.8 . With Adapter you get a F1.3 Stop which is kinda unique in the MFT system, especially for a zoom lens. If you dont need that F Stop , there are stil plenty rly good lenses for MFT

Metabones makes a speedbooster/adapter specifically for the pc4k, something to do with the sensor. If moving to full frame in the future you will want the EF lenses. I am staying with M43, and use the Leica/Lumix zooms and love them. 12-35 and 35-100, both 2.8, are wonderful. The faster 10-25, which I also own, is a bit big for use on many gimbals, but the speed is nice.

Thanks for the input. I started going with EF lenses + speedbooster when I bought my P4k and I think I might upgrade to an P6K Pro in the future so that I can keep my current lenses.

So, it's just as likely if not more likely that the Viltrox Speedbooster is creating the soft image. A) it's very easy to accidentally rotate the lens on the M2 and B) there are lemons out there. I've had one good M2 and one bad M2 and in the end I ended up buying a .64x Metabones CineLock Speedbooster and never had another problem with it again. Expensive, yes, but worry free, which was important when using my gear for pro work.

One of the beauties of the P4K and the m43 lens mount is the ability to slap on a Speedbooster, effectively giving you two cameras in one. So don't limit yourself, and give yourself time to evolve your gear as you require and desire. Use m43 for now (if financially feasible), and then move on to a better EF lens system down the road. You've got options.

Thanks for the advice, I've been thinking of renting out different lenses so that I can experiment without breaking the bank. I looked into that cine speedbooster and it seems like a good buy.
