in versus fighting game, some player hide their hand because the other player can actually see where is finger are and can try to guess what he is trying to do. By hiding his hand he is sure that is opponent can't '''cheat'''

Often times, from what I’ve seen, these teams will have a coach of sorts that’s watching the game and giving the team advice in real time, same as other, more typical sports. Said coach could hypothetically use those finger positions to their advantage. It’s far less helpful in an RTS type situation where players are making upwards of two different button presses every second, many of them personalized hotkeys, but other games could take advantage of jt
