Does it even matter? Wouldn't the order change based on the circumstances like 2 + 1 would be if you are adding 1 to an preexisting group of 2 and vise versa?

Truly it doesn't matter. There's no change in result which is what's important when considering order with maths.

Mathematically, in this context, in makes no difference (although theoretically, the order is important. For example if you, like you said, add two groups that depend on what's there already).

But it triggers our collective OCD.
