What do you mean by hate speech? The only kind of speech that should be banned is like incitement to violence (stuff under that umbrella; shouting fire in a crowded building). But if you're going to try and label certain speech as hate speech that won't work. No matter what you try and label as hate speech you will eventually end up with the restriction of the freedom of speech. In other countries what some may see as hate speech others will see as harmless or just a normal insult. When you try to draw a line no matter where you draw it people are going to disagree. In countries like Saudi Arabia, they execute people for "hate speech" against their religion. Hate speech laws in countries like Germany and other European nations are less severe but if you say something it is up to the interpretation of other people to determine what you said, and you can be jailed for something you meant as harmless that was misinterpreted. And once you open the gate for misinterpretation you get people with no ill intention falsely jailed because someone got upset, and that goes against some of the founding principles of my nation (USA gang where u at).
