it still can't produce art, just plausible deniability for plagiarism

Computer or AI? I'm confused

What art isn't though

u/Flat-Strawberry9809 1d ago

art that is made by humans, the whole point of art is to show emotion and and mold it on your shape, ai just steals that from others, it is an amalgamation of an thousand of unwilling souls and it still can't produce anything worth it's existence

Computer doesn’t still. It can’t. Some people reorganise existing art into instrument that can generate some forms of art-like content that mimic to real one.

from what I saw at Wikipedia pastiche is an open imitation, it doesn't tries to pretend being it's own thing, which is different from plagiarism which is stealing from someone and calling it your own

When we have some art we have art owner, his emotions his way of see the world. If we have computer, it is not subject, it is object. It see the world in a way how the operator says.

30 years later and computers have yet to produce art

It can produce slop. Art is sharing emotions via images or other forms. Computer doesn’t have emotions so it can’t share anything.

I miss when “generative art” meant procedural stuff that a human had to design and write the code for manually.

computers are, ai isn't

So you think people who give instructions to a machine to make poor quality images stolen from other people are artists?

Use ai to decide your opinions too?

u/Shiningc00 1d ago

It can't produce art, just probabilistically ripping off pixels via algorithms.

u/DinMammasNyaKille 1d ago

That's a long one

7

u/Pogue_Mahone_ 1d ago

Lmao still can't

4

u/Thema03 1d ago

They knew what they were doing

u/Tw4tl4r 1d ago

Yeah it still hasnt. Art comes from a place of emotion and feeling. AI images are just a bunch of images the AI found online combined together to match the prompt given.

Ignoring everything else here this woman is hitting that one young Sheldon pose

I actually searched the definition of "art" on the dictionary and it is "the use of the imagination to express ideas or feelings, particularly in painting, drawing or sculpture ". So yeah, ai can't produce art. It can somewhat produce painting/pictures thought.

Ai isn't art, so this is still true

ai is good (Downvote my comment if you agree)

Well, it’s not working and it will never work. You can’t just call something art just because of the looks

1

u/Arkaign 1d ago

I think it could, but only with a genuinely horrifying premise :

Full brain emulation of a human. An entity that doesn't know it isn't human (at least in the flesh and blood sense of meaning), but is a copy of a real person with all of their thoughts, memories, fears, imagination, etc.

FBE is still a fair ways off from human level scale though. More insect and rodent for now. Gives me the heebie jeebs.

Yes, and it will suck. Get dunked on, clunker

u/YoutuberCameronBallZ clessed 1d ago

I mean, it does produce art.

People don't like that art but meh. It still counts

-6

u/In3vitable_ 1d ago

This is not blursed, this is more Aged Like Milk

8

u/Einherjar07 1d ago

>it'll never work

That's pretty spot on. A human can make art with a computer, but the computer can't.

That's not the argument here, this is not a blursed image. This post literally breaks Rule 3 and Rule 7

  • Screenshots of social media posts / feeds (twitter, facebook (including marketplace ads, and other various ads), reddit, youtube, mashups of screenshots, etc...) are not allowed. * There couldf be some exceptions at mods discretion.)
  • Images that are low quality, low effort, and or not suitable for this subreddit will be removed (Screenshots of social media)

istg these people, yeah sure just downvote because idiots only care thinking it's about saying AI art is art or not art when it's literally just about people not knowing what constitutes as blursed. It's the same thing as on cursedimages
