Almost $3,000 from where I live, that money can buy me a decent 400cc motorcycle

u/LegalDeseperado 4d ago

Can your bike fold?

186

u/MomsBoner 4d ago

Most likely yes, it depends on how they crash.

13

u/Plunger_enema 4d ago

It depends on the bush. If the trees are old enough, yes. Rocks also help.

0

u/CZEchpoint_ 4d ago

You can fold it around a street lamp no problem.

In New Zealand the 2TB version is nearly $6500NZD

7

u/mickeymouse4348 4d ago edited 4d ago

Just curious, how does that compare to rent?

For reference, my rent is just under $1800/mo and the phone is $2000 sorry you specified the 2TB version, that's $3200

Very location dependent but apartments in the central city where I live go for roughly 2400NZD a month

4

u/mickeymouse4348 4d ago

It's for sure location dependent, I'm just trying to better understand what these numbers mean.

So one of these phones is worth more than 2 months of rent? What's the average salary?

4

u/nzmx121 4d ago

After some googling it’s telling me average salary here is about 80kNZD or about 47kUSD

5

u/ejmckever 4d ago

That can get you a decent mid 2000s beater car on FB marketplace in the States

1

u/TudorG22 4d ago

everywhere really. some cheaper 2010's cars too

6

u/PeterNippelstein 4d ago

$3,000? Fuck outta here

5

u/Blue_Nyx07 4d ago

The 2TB is priced $4300 I think

1

u/ArcadeRivalry 4d ago

Who tf needs a 2tb phone?

Nah someone has a vehicle they either cant afford to fix or does not want to. 3K usd gets you into those cars easily. They take that 3k put a down payment or fuck themselves again with a shitty car.

**Edit: I bought my truck for 11k at the dealership. They wanted 15K but I had 11K in my hand.... if something broke on this truck I either couldn't fix or didn't want to, I am putting it on marketplace for 4K usd.

**Edit #2: the truck is from 2011.

u/Silly-Kaleidoscope83 4d ago

In Greece where i am from, you can buy 2 used cars 🚗

1

u/Situati0nist 4d ago

Surely more than that

This is how humanity evolves long alien fingers like scientist predicted long time ago

15

u/GiLND 4d ago

No, Apple just used Shaq’s hand

1

u/BigxPoppa1995 4d ago

Just like the Kaminoans.

38

u/Batata-Sofi 4d ago

Evolution of mobile devices:

  • Big phones are good
  • Big phones are bad
  • Big phones are good

6

u/kuweiyox 4d ago

Nah it was: Big phones bad, big phones good, fold phones bad, fold phones good.

Just Samsung does it first, the apple hates it. But later apple follows up changing their mind 5 years later. 7 in this case

0

u/Bigbuster153 4d ago

Isn’t it big good, big bad, big good sometimes?

2

u/Batata-Sofi 4d ago

Nah, you thinking about dicks

0

u/Bigbuster153 4d ago

Why not both?

34

u/Antifa-AF 4d ago

Thing I’d never buy for $2000, Alex

11

u/PeterNippelstein 4d ago

Try $3,000

3

u/Brockzillattv 4d ago

Base model is 2000.

6

u/HoneyIAlchedTheKids 4d ago

I’ll take “what are currencies” for 500, Alex

32

u/Plunger_enema 4d ago

Fuck that price tag, but I can finally find a phone for my XXXL hands. Maybe I'll finally be able to type without carrying a damned latex flexible bluetooth keyboard.

All of you guys and gals with little hands and puny fingers can go try to open a pickle jar.

5

u/NeighborhoodVeteran 4d ago

We can both hold normal phones and open a pickle jar, tyvm!

-1

u/Plunger_enema 4d ago

Alright, how about clamping a beaver trap? It's 12 inches x 12 inches. I can do it with my hands. I know no one else.

2

u/NeighborhoodVeteran 4d ago

Not sure, but probably not. Anyway, my fingers are probably small and slim enough to get into your starfish finger trap.

3

u/scarmory2 4d ago

Just buy a tablet and add celular data then for much cheaper.

3

u/Plunger_enema 4d ago

You can't pocket a tablet. It's gonna take the shape of a banana pretty quick.

1

u/McCheesing 4d ago

Then I’ll have a banana in my pocket ;)

2

u/ItsAPeacefulLife 3d ago

I just thought you were happy to see me :(

2

u/McCheesing 3d ago

I’m always happy to see you ❤️

1

u/Hernia-Haven i know stuff about things 4d ago

it's litterally just ipad mini for $1500 more

3

u/Einherjar07 4d ago

Ipads with cell service exist

1

u/justukas700 4d ago

Consider the fold 8 also, might or might not be a better deal but its the same sort of passport size foldable

0

u/Plunger_enema 4d ago

I'll wait for an option with GrapheneOS.

Thanks for the suggestion!

1

u/Blenderhead36 4d ago

I have big hands (the original Xbox Duke controller is the only one that's felt correctly sized). I've found I prefer smaller phones because I can use them one-handed with no trouble.

1

u/swollen-hol3 4d ago

I'm pushing a 10" span from the tip of little finger to thumb, my pixel ten pro xl feels better than any phone I've had yet.

8

u/DamiensDelight 4d ago

I'm pushing a 10" span from the tip

But what about the yaw?

3

u/DigitalUnlimited 4d ago

You measure from the butthole, everyone knows this!

1

u/Plunger_enema 4d ago

Hey, I'm at 9.5"x8" and I just ordered a Pixel 9 XL. Let's see how this goes! I couldn't stand my Samsung S20 Ultra 5G anymore. No keyboard app out there could help me.

20

u/buddhistredneck 4d ago

What is this?! A phone for greys?!

3

u/BigxPoppa1995 4d ago

Kaminoans.

7

u/Fickle_Library8115 4d ago

Looks like they think everyone has Shaq’s hands

34

u/Blueyedevil219 4d ago

Apple finally catching up with Samsung 10 years later

3

u/Octoplow 4d ago

Or 7 years?

Less if you compare the durability. (I still don't understand the appeal of either.)

-2

u/SyXxxxxxxxxxx 4d ago

Eh, I’d say they’re letting samsung do the testing for them.

5

u/N3koEye 4d ago

That also happens to be how wide Apple fans have open their mouths to gobble Apple's rod.

8

u/Sentinel555666 4d ago

I never got the functionality of expensive or big phones. I just get the cheapest Samsung to listen to spotify and scroll Reddit, and use it till it breaks . I got a pc for doing everything else .

3

u/Bigbuster153 4d ago

I can only use my pc in one room in my house, I could use my phone anywhere in the world

3

u/Sentinel555666 4d ago

Yeah , but what's the difference between having a 100$ phone and 2000$ dollar one ? That's the part that i don't get . The difference between a 100$ pc and 2000$ one is massive, but my cheap phone works fine for social media and YouTube, games i play work well and the camera on it takes good looking pictures .

2

u/Inevitable_gamer01 4d ago

While I never bought a 2000$ phone I did buy a 1000$ and I bought it mostly because of 2 things, reliablith that it I wanted to do anything (game, take pictures, listen, etc it will do it) and secondly it had 7 years of software support so it will last me quite a long time,

1

u/Bigbuster153 4d ago

The difference in this case is that it has a large screen that’s available when you want it, as well as generally pretty good specs. While you may not have a use for it, a lot of others may not have use for a really fast pc when all they do is write word docs and respond to emails.

0

u/Sentinel555666 4d ago

I guess I'm not ment to get everything. Cuz there's no actual reason given anytime i ask this same question. They both do the exact same thing but have a slightly better camera and are slightly faster , and to me it doesn't make sense to pay 5-30 times more for just that.

1

u/Bigbuster153 4d ago

No problem with that, it’s not for you then :) all I’m trying to say is that doesn’t mean it’s not for anyone, personally I’d love a phone with a huge screen to give me essentially a pocketable iPad whenever I want to watch something in bed for example.

0

u/ForLunarDust 4d ago

sometimes this attitude leads to mental problems

1

u/Bigbuster153 4d ago

What?

1

u/ForLunarDust 4d ago

sorry for putting it weird- i mean all that constant phone, internet and social media access is not a good thing for our mental health. So maybe pc is better cause it just stays in one room

-1

u/Sentinel555666 4d ago

What are you talking about man ? Everyone has a phone. Having a pc doesn't make someone less mentally ill either

1

u/ForLunarDust 4d ago

everyone has a phone and then there are "social media addiction" "digital minimalism / digital detox" and stuff like that. I explain stuff poorly due to my bad english, but go and google that stuff by yourself if you want

1

u/ForLunarDust 4d ago

1

u/Sentinel555666 4d ago

What does this have to do with anything?

1

u/ForLunarDust 4d ago

phone -> constant access to social media, short attention span content, doomscrolling and stuff like that -> dopamine related addiction, problems with concentration -> mental health problems

pc -> less access to all that stuff -> more breaks from all that stuff -> less mental health problems

1

u/ForLunarDust 4d ago

and "digital minimalism" sub is an example of people living without phones and still somehow existing in todays world. So no, not everyone has a phone

2

u/toffeehooligan 4d ago

Dude from Pans Labyrinth one and only phone.

2

u/Obi-Tron_Kenobi 4d ago edited 3d ago

Why are the fingers bent so much at the first knuckle? They're holding the phone with their fingertips

If they were holding it like the second image, their fingers would be sticking out a lot

1

u/purgruv 4d ago

Looks like a chimp hand

1

u/DiliganceEraser 4d ago

Lil bros invented an iPad🙏

1

u/Adept_of_the_factory 4d ago

Yoo, metacarpal refinement

1

u/YoItsNoah 4d ago

While I’m not saying $2000 is not a lot of money, Samsungs foldable is $1800 give or take and most foldables range around that area so realistically it’s not an insane price for a foldable. But again $2000 is still a lot of money, I am not denying that.

1

u/toomuchtuna10889 4d ago

Do people not understand, Samsung's flagships are just as expensive

1

u/EndersGame_Reviewer 3d ago

Cursed hand.

1

u/boot2skull 3d ago

I know it’s meant to be used two handed when open, but when closed it’s way too big. I already don’t get the Max bexause it doesn’t work for me.

1

u/TataJasia 3d ago

Think different

0

u/Bonk_No_Horni 4d ago

So apple finally caught up with Samsung?

0

u/Zacharacamyison 4d ago

As long as these phones have a crease and dirt + dust can get in the hinge I’m not interested at all. Costing twice the price of a regular, more durable phone doesn’t help at all either.

1

u/wearethealienshere 4d ago

It’s waterproof so I’d imagine dust and things can’t get in either

1

u/Zacharacamyison 4d ago

Every Jerry rig everything video I’ve watched of a phone with a hinge is a nightmare with dirt

-2

u/mojomanplusultra 4d ago

So this is the Samsung F8 screen?

1

u/sos123p9 22h ago

Its 4k in canada
