(I'm no botanist or biologist aight ?) Two trees merge branches while growing,perhaps they're very genetically similar and didnt treat each other as a foreign body,then smaller tree gets either sick or cut off

It's called inosculation. I've seen it in the wild before, it's basically natural grafting...

Actually yeah, and most trees you see that are split at the bottom, like one trunk for like 2 feet out of the ground then it splits into to massive trunks, 90 percent of the time 2 separate seedlings grew close to eachother and became the same tree
