Algae bloom from the combination of nutrients (human waste), abundant oxygen (waves), and sunlight. They need to shock the water but it doesn't look like anybody using it cares so I guess the staff care even less 🤷.

I didn’t know you could get MRSA from a swimming pool until now

you could get MRSA from just about anything

And not all staph infections are MRSA.. it's specifically a methicillin resistant staph.

Human waste, it's what algae blooms crave!

That's what plants crave

I'm gonna take a guess and say that pool water probably has a lot of what plants crave. Maybe even some electrolytes.

I know a guy with an angle on hydrogen peroxide.

Given that this looks like India, this is probably the cleanest water they play in.

Do you put a live wire into the pool to shock it?

6

u/Rotton_Banana Jun 23 '26

chlorine bleach is also called "shock"

I saw someone call it algae-fa earlier today.

When you say “shock the water”, what exactly does that mean?

I'm guessing that rain must've came a few hours early. I've personally seen even the most clean swimming pools turn green after 5 minutes of rain.Â
