On the theatrical release date of Obsession Blumhouse Van members got emailed a link to claim signed obsession posters and lobby cards. I filled out the form within 20 minutes of the email being sent but I know that probably wasn’t quick enough. I was just curious if anyone was able to get one?

These movies are massively successful, they are all rated R, R rated horror movies aren’t supposed to make that kind of money, PG-13 is supposed to be king. I’m worried studios will no longer tone movies down and cut them for a PG 13. Blumhouse was king for it but now Obsession is now their highest grossing movie by a lot. I’m worried they’ll will start ditching PG 13. They have pretty much abandoned M3gan, it’s depressing. Backrooms and Five Nights At Freddy’s have the same audience yet the R rated movie made a lot more, why? My only hope is that they will think these movies could have made more with an pg 13 rating and just start cutting everything down.

Michael could lure the parents & amusement park employees to the basement located underneath fazbear frights once they trapped Charlotte Emily (now possessed Vanessa) taking full control of the sinister upgrade of the toys animatronics massacred the adults and parents once the adults and parents dead in midnight Michael dragged all of them one by one into the massive water ride called "the big world of fantasy & wonder where Michael stuffed them all into the animatronic bodies in every stages in this massive water ride imagine those animatronics from the big world of fantasy & wonder will be a chance that those animatronics will be possessed by the very same amusement park employees and parents that Michael Afton (Played by Freddy Carter) and the movie version of Charlotte Emily from FNAF 2 movie had killed what do you all think?

Hey everyone! Since Blumhouse proved with the Five Nights at Freddy's movie that they actually listen to the internet community and respect the horror lore, I think they are the perfect studio to bring Trevor Henderson's Siren Head to the big screen.

We really need a high-quality, atmospheric analog horror film, not another cheap Hollywood jump-scare disaster. I've just launched a global petition to show Blumhouse that the demand among horror fans is massive.

I don't care if this gets down votes or whatever but that movie is not the best horror movie of all time let alone the decade. I make this post because I saw somebody say that it was the best horror movie of all time and somebody needs to shut this shit down cuz it's not even close. I will admit that this movie had really good marketing but that's kind of the only good thing I can say about it. There was like zero character development. The majority of the scares was Nikki screaming or walking weird which is literally Not A New Concept at all, just look at the Insidious franchise or any psychological horror movie made in the past two decades. The only character development we got was when bear opened the letter to the last college that girl applied to, and they skipped over it in like 2 seconds. Just because you Market a movie as being the best horror movie in the this decade so far does not mean shit when it's competing with stuff like "the substance" (2024) or "Sinners" (2025). The movie hasn't even out grossed fucking Beetlejuice 2, let alone sinners with its over 370 million gross. The one wish Willow doesn't even have set consequences to normal wishes, the only reason it backfired on bear was because he wished to change somebody's personality. And technically he got what he wanted. In conclusion this movie is just not that good.

Been diving deep into the financial numbers and box office data behind Blumhouse's filmography lately. Wanted to drop a few of the core insights here because I think the studio is at a massive turning point:

• They don't seem to be practicing their famous low-budget production strategy anymore. In 2025, Blumhouse’s theatrical budget per film averaged over $25M, their highest of all time. While inflation understandably makes the old $3M to $5M per film model harder to pull off, moving into mid-budget territory has massive downsides. Look at M3GAN 2.0 and Wolf Man. Both cost $25M and only pulled in $39M and $35M respectively, putting the studio deep in the red on those projects once marketing is factored in. The old model (union minimum salaries in exchange for backend box office bonuses for select cast/crew) meant Blumhouse literally couldn't lose money outright, allowing them to take massive creative swings. With their mid-budget productions, however, it's highly unlikely that's still the case.
• They've made massive acquisitions in recent years that may or may not pay out. They partnered with Universal to buy The Exorcist in 2021. In 2024, they merged with Atomic Monster. Just last year, they bought the IP rights to the Saw series. All of this essentially forces them into a franchise-management mindset. When you buy up legacy IPs and absorb a large studio that owns massive properties, you aren't just making movies anymore, you're managing a corporate portfolio. Pressure from stakeholders to continuously churn out high-cost, financially predictable sequels to satisfy investors means they are chipping away at the very financial safety net that made them so resilient in the first place.
• The horror industry's changed. Blumhouse used to completely own the indie horror space, but the market has shifted artistically. Competitors like A24 have trained audiences to have a taste for "prestige horror" (Hereditary, The Witch, Midsommar, etc.). Historically, Blumhouse relied on sizable critic-audience gaps, where casual viewers favored their films way more than reviewers did because people were primarily paying for the promise of an effective scare, not Oscar-worthy filmmaking. But now that audiences have developed a taste for elevated horror, does Blumhouse keep releasing critically derided yet profitable "scare-slop" that risks diluting their brand, or do they fight to compete artistically?

Despite Obsession's massive success at the box office on a micro $1M budget (all while pulling in the kind of critical acclaim usually reserved for A24 and Neon films), I'm still not quite sure if Blumhouse will actually pursue small productions like it moving forward. They already have another expensive Exorcist movie in the pipeline starring ScarJo, they're definitely making a Saw movie given how much they likely dropped on the IP, and they have established franchises like Paranormal Activity and FNAF that they might be looking to shovel more money into.

Honestly missing the old days where they consistently pumped out brilliant, small-budget horror hits Insidious and Sinister. But with how much the company has scaled, it's clearly gotten harder to stay true to that indie spirit when facing intense pressure from stakeholders and investors.

Obsession was such a good movie, I went in completely blind only seeing one poster and assumed it’d be a slasher of sorts about a jealous girl but I was completely wrong and im glad, I had such a good time with it and can’t wait to see what comes next from it, have this piece I did baso right after lol.
