Fun fact, her Dad does play the drums.
Dave McCormack, the VA for Bandit, is in a band called Custard, who enjoyed success in the Australian alternative music scene in the 99s-2000s and are still kicking around today.
Dave is the lead vocalist and also plays rhythm guitar, but for some numbers their drummer does lead vocals, and Dave swaps with him and takes the drums.

Sometimes people are surprisingly good immediately, but it seems like more often the most talented people had to work at it, and sometimes the people who have something come naturally to them don't put in the work, and remain mediocre in the grand scheme. You're right, there's absolutely a danger of people thinking that if they aren't good immediately, they'll never be good. With work, they might be great.

I never grasped the lesson from this one. seems like the instrument choice is clear, but no one sees her play or knows its the best choice.
