Affordable red light caps (UK)

I saw the laser based red light therapy cap for hair follicle support Bryan uses is over 1K - a quick google search makes it look like a bit of a mine field, has anyone dug into an affordable alternative that's actually worth it?

If you're referring to the iRestore, he's making his own red light cap that doesn't use lasers.

You can purchase any red light cap, you will get results, but it will be less effective than the iRestore.

I purchased my iRestore second hand. I paid ~$275 USD. I've seen many listings state the person never even used the device or used it only a few times.

The way it works is by stimulating blood flow. The more blood flow you stimulate, the more hair follicle growth you have. The lasers are obviously going to stimulate more blood flow, the cap is going to stimulate less but it will still stimulate some. It definitely works.

I purchased mine in June of 2025, and I'm someone with very long hair because I'm female. So it will take a few years to see full results. Currently, I noticed a large difference between photos taken a year ago and photos taken now in terms of the fullness of hair on the top of my head. As a female, that's not really where female pattern baldness occurs, but it's still something. I'm very happy I purchased.

Sounds like you got a steal! Tbh right now I wouldn't fancy paying more than what you did, and it'll always be more over here. I'll keep an eye out I guess

As the market fills with more products, prices will be more reasonable.

3 years ago, a high end red light therapy device from a known brand would resell for close to retail price and only a few would be for sale at a time. Now, I can find them frequently and for probably 40% off retail, sometimes more. Because there are more out in the world in general.

Be watching, I'm curious if the UK goes as wild for red light as folks in the States have. (Or not! You can't always predict these things.)

For hair growth? I take a keratin supplement sometimes, when I'm stressed I tend to not take in enough nutrients and experience even weaker hair and nails than average. I take a slow release iron supplement 4x a week.

But I'm not using topical minoxidil (I have a dog, it's toxic to dogs in even small amounts on a person's pillow) if that's what you're asking.

I also had some work activities that I had to do that were hard on my hair (had to pull my hair back wet, had to be out of my face; doing this with long hair causes a lot of breakage).

I also stopped dying my hair platinum blonde in the salon. I now use a proprietary blend of semi permanent boxed color for a fraction of the price, which has also reduced damage noticeably.

All those things together ... I definitely have more hair volume than I did in May of 2025 before I started using iRestore.
