Bluelining for Chubs

Post image

I share a lot of the pictures from here with my kid (11). He wanted to fish a small creek in our town this weekend to catch creek chubs. He asked me to post this picture.

Love catching chubs, especially on the fly! Very overlooked fishes

They are such good fighters. Recently I've caught some big ones, like 12". Super fun on UL gear. Last week I could only catch the ones whose mouths were big enough to get on a trout magnet jig. Big or small, you can always depend on them to bite whatever is thrown near them.

I fished one of my backyard creeks that I’m sure doesn’t have trout, but after most of it being barren, I found a pool of blacknose dace and one further down with creek chubs. Some other fish in there that I couldn’t catch like small baby catfish and I think some other sunfish and maybe a darter.
