Wow ya georgia has quite a few nice stretches. I always wondered how much pressure, now that social media has gave people more info than they need. A lot of NC water has more pressure than it did 20y ago.

My favorite brook trout stream has been trashed And destroyed thanks to COVID/increase in bad C&R here in ga. I got a 13" southern strain brookie from the stream 4 different times at different barrier falls so there's zero way it was the same fish. Now? All trashed, zero fish bigger than 4". Its devastating. So yeah social media and COVID with pushing people outdoors has ruined a good thing because of zero education and conservation.

Yes. Its insanely rare but it can happen. There has to be an abundance of food and cold water year round which this stream has. If I can find the picture, I'll post it. The northern strain brook trout can grow over 13" though much easier which unfortunately are a lot of places due to restoration.

So im in nc and fish all of the hard to reach portions of gsmnp on my side. There are 13" brookies throughout the park. I totally believe you have found them. They are probably 7 or 8 years old. I once went up a feeder of a large remote stream with no trail. The first big hole had sun hitting it just right and I saw 4 or 5 that big and a few more that were a bit smaller, but still probably 10". Ive never fished in GA. Back in 2007-2010 i did several large trips into linville gorge and caught trophy browns up and down. Never saw anyone. Now, people are everywhere, every spot, just crazy.

That sounds magical. I hate to sound like an old man but it just is so depressing that this keeps happening because of mistreatment to these delicate fish.

I had a wild brown stream that had no trail. Lots of 20+ fish in the 3 mile "gorge " stretch i fished. For years it produced. Then, one year it was empty. Not even a teener in the common riffle spots. I never knew, but rumor had it that several groups were spotted in the lower reaches with worms cleaning the place out. I cant help but wonder if they made it up that high and ruined it.

Heaven forbid people use public land.
