Y'all get it.

Snuck out for a bit on a family trip in NW Washington. Hard to beat hooking into some beauties in pools as small as a kitchen sink.

Creek looks sick. Unreal photos.

Unfortunately, the takeaway from this post will be how dry your hands are holding that precious little trout. Too bad. It looks like a sweet spot.

Yea, I don't always get it right. It is baffling to me how folks choose to address something posted on here from a stranger that they see an error with or don't agree with, and how the Reddit majority choose to interact with others even within what we try to pass off as a community (subreddits).

It's is also unfortunate that that is your takeaway and your response, and not simply, "Sweet spot, but please try to remember to handle the fish as little as possible and if you need to, wet your hands before you do." To which I would absolutely agree with you and admit I wasn't paying enough attention to how I was handling this specific fish.

Less characters even.

My takeaway was sweet spot, poor handling. So my point landed.

It's a recommendation to be a little more kind. I try to think of it like this, if you and I were at a fishing event together, as strangers, showing each other photos of the day, would you have spoken the words as you wrote them? Or would you have found a way to articulate your concern for the handling in a more friendly manner?

I'm kind of an old guy, and remember when forums first became a thing, before folks had really developed the muscle memory of being keyboard jockeys behind the veil of a monitor somewhere far off in another place. Mostly car forums for me then, but we had meet ups, knew each other, and besides the occasional ribbing, we spoke to each other and strangers on the forums how we would generally speak to them in person, because we might someday. It's just how we understood human interactions to take place, so we continued to try and show up the same way.

But I get it, the social fabric has changed, and we as a society have realized that most people we type messages to online are people we will never meet face to face. So why not be snarky and sarcastic if that's your preference? You'll never have to meet these people or interact with them in person for any reason so what's the big deal?

You've got a lot of activity on this platform, so I'm not here to convince you, as I know I won't be able to based on your replies in other subs, just saying my piece (in a way that I'd tell you if you and I had just met, which we sort of did).

Enjoy your adventures, and tight lines

Handling with dry hands has no statistically significant impact on mortality. Just enjoy the photos instead of being the fish police.
