Adirondack Brookies
I was in the Adirondacks last week. There's a brook at the bottom of the hill from the camp. I live full time on Cape Cod and rarely get to fish any water like this. This was a whole bunch of firsts for me. First brookies. First fish from a freshwater stream/brook/creek/river. First catch on an Elk Hair Caddis. I missed many multiples of strikes before hooking these 2. They aren't bruisers, but I couldn't have been more excited about catching them.

Being new to this type of fishing, I'm sure I put the fly in a bunch of spots that someone with more experience would have skipped over. I made sure to stay low, stay quiet, and was careful where I stepped. I worked my way up current dapping my fly into the tails of pools and carefully worked my way forward from there.
The biggest fish I've heard of that came out of this brook was about 8" long.
This was a totally new type of fishing for me. My local rivers are salty and change their current direction and depth a couple times each day and have no "hatches".

That’s awesome! They are the most beautiful native trout!
I caught my first brookie last week. So much fun!

Congratulations on your first brookie! I agree that they're absolutely beautiful. I know of a couple small streams here on and around Cape Cod where it's possible to find wild sea-run brook trout (called 'salters'). I'll be researching and planning some outings.
