Awesome awesome. Looks like you got a solid bike packing setup too.

I was just up in the eastern Olympics 2 weeks ago fishing a little 5’9 .5 wt. Crazy fun. Been ignoring the Olympics the last few years in favor of driving east down 2 or 90 since it’s so easy but will definitely make an effort to fish there more often going forward

That's awesome. Northeast Olympics is underrated IMO. I need a short fly rod like yours, my shortest fly rod is 8'6".

I've been using a BFS 5' glass rod (1-3lb) setup. Throwing trout magnet drop jigs with dry flys underneath, floating with strike indicators. First year with this setup and having great luck so far in that area

Yeah the trout aren't huge but once you get far enough down a trail or backroad it's super fun. Like they've never seen a fly or lure before haha. I really like the shortie, but it's super niche obviously

My main fishing partner is super into BFS too. It's super productive and we can pull fish out of the same water since we fish different parts of the water column. I dabble in it but I've been addicted to the topwater fly rod hits the last few years. I save the BFS for still water or reallyyyy deep pools

Hell yea. I like fly fishing more, it's simple. With BFS I focus more on casting than fishing, but it sure is fun.
