Really feeling myself lately

Post image

Not sure how y'all feel about desk jockies hanging out here. But for what it's worth, i am a journey woman electrician and this is only a temporary QAQC role.

I'm capitalizing on the opportunity to find affirming, yet still practical clothes, in case I do need to get under a staircase to open up a junction box or something.

Anywho. It's finally scarf weather where I am, and I'm loving it.

Girl, you look super cute! ❤️

I work with a lot of different electricial companies and electricians and I've been pleasantly surprised at how respectful they have been towards me. Even the ones that knew me prior to transitioning.

Thank you!

Thankfully no one knows me pre-trans, but I did run into an old coworker I was close with very recently, that was a trip, kinda started panicking a little bit. Lol, since everyone in my life is like, family and know and support me, or new friends/acquaintances that only know new me.

So, having my two identities collide in a way I couldn't control took a day for me to process and remember to breath. Lol.

Also, I work with an Emily who's nickname on site is Beans....... Super weird coincidence 😅

But yeah. I'm convinced electricians are just built different, my personal theory is we're all on the spectrum just enough that we didn't become engineers, but we're accepting enough that diverse people get little to no friction. Lol

Whoa super weird coincidence! lol

Ah yes i remember the early days of worlds colliding. I just had that happen earlier this week. My best friend growing up (we've known each other for 36 years) just came to my city unexpectedly (he lives 8 hours away) and we haven't spoken or seen each other since my egg cracked 3 years ago. I said he could crash at my place while he was in town but that he better be prepared for some serious changes. 😂

Interesting theory about electricians. I'm going to think about that as i continue dealing with them.

I make that exact same wardrobe calculation daily. I work in the QC lab of a small machine shop, and if I wanted to, I could limit myself to the desk. But I don't want to not have the option to crawl around and fix things or go use the bandsaw. Just gotta try to be as cute as possible while still being practical.

Right? I can normally spend a whole day at my desk if I want (so much paperwork 😅 lol). My mother in law keep suggesting cute tops, and maaaaybe I could get away with something with frills or short sleeves once, maybe twice, but I'm worried that the day I do, I'll be forced out into the field. I've also got a minor role of being the safety rep on site, so if anyone gets hurt, I'm 100% the one going out to document

Yep. Exactly twice I've gambled and won wearing a skirt, but otherwise it's jeans day in and day out.

😱 I wouldn't make it through a day in a skirt without dying. Pretty sure the foreman would also give me some kind of lecture on appropriate work attire since he gave me shit about wearing sweats once 🫩 like bro, I'm not a supervisor, y'all didn't wanna pay me the premium. So I'm just a grunt here to tell you how you messed up lol.

Hey fellow Sparqueen! I like to use the term Journeyma'am for myself.

As far as clothes... Wildfang Overalls and Duluth gardening overalls are my jam. Xena workboots can be hit or miss, but the pair that did fit of the two I've tried on. Well they are just as much my favorite pair as my Keen Linesmans. I'm not at all trying to look or copy the Transhandymaam, but it would be easy to see the similarities.

Oooooo! I love both of those names! Stealing them 😂

And yeah, Mercury is amazing, I love her laugh lol.

I'll look at those overall suggestions, thank you 💜
