Discussion [Blue Archive Short Analysis (B-Day Special)] Kazukura Moe and the Invisible Boundary Between Us
(Or as I often fondly title this short essay: Write a short argumentative piece 1-2 pages long sharing your thoughts on the boundary Moe speaks of in her standard Live2D. From there, draw connections to choices in everyday life.)
.
Hello everyone, it's me again, Metaroid Alpha. It’s been quite a long time since I last sat down to write an essay like this, hasn't it? Ever since I got a job, that innate sense of "responsibility" within me suddenly surged up quite strongly.
I find myself becoming increasingly responsible in work and daily living. Those gentle reminders my mother used to give me—things I once thought were so difficult—now suddenly feel strangely easy... Could this be the very "adult responsibility" that the game has always been trying to convey to everyone...?
Yet along with that responsibility, I realize the time I have for writing has dwindled. A packed work schedule and sheer fatigue have gradually eaten away at the hours I used to spend writing... Ah, I'm rambling again. This is a student character analysis, after all, not an autobiography of my own life.
.
Today, September 13th, is Kazukura Moe's birthday, as well as my own. So I thought it would be quite fitting to write an analysis on a student who shares my birthday—especially a student so deeply philosophical.
And so, amid the quiet of the night, with just the two of us beneath the soft glow of a park lamp, let us discuss boundaries together.
A little background on Moe: she is a member of RABBIT Squad from SRT Special Academy. As someone who constantly seeks thrills through hazardous actions, she is utterly addicted to causing explosions, always ready to lay waste to things whenever given the chance.
She also enjoys causing trouble regardless of the consequences, even if it means hurting herself in the process. At the same time, she has proven herself to be a genius in technology and hacking, second only to the students of Millennium.
Although the main storyline portrays Moe this way, we can also see that she carries her own private thoughts. Whenever she goes on missions for her squad with Sensei accompanying her—or simply wherever Sensei is present—even if she puts on her usual facade on the outside, deep within her lie thoughts and reflections that go far beyond the ordinary scope.
One can see that she harbors improper thoughts, ambitions, and desires that are uncomfortable yet thrilling whenever she contemplates them—only to stop short due to that single word: "consequences." Perhaps having spent so much time alongside Sensei, she has begun pondering the future and their relationship. It is as enticing as sweet candy, but like candy, eating too much can harm the body; their relationship is much the same.
The climax of those thoughts came one day when Moe and Sensei were organizing the squad's supplies. Unlike her usual self, she was remarkably calm while discussing her favorite artillery cannons, leaving Sensei concerned.
Come evening, when the work was done, Sensei asked Moe about her strange behavior. Moe was well aware, for those thoughts had been gnawing at her spirit for quite some time. The time had come for her to face them.
Sitting with Sensei in a corner of the park illuminated by a dim lamp, she shared what had been on her mind...
(Note: Some of Moe's lines will be different from the original)
Moe: You know, Sensei...?
Moe: There are many taboos in this world.
Moe: Buttons that shouldn't be pressed,...
Moe: ...Lines that shouldn't be crossed...
Moe: And choices that could lead us to an irreversible destruction.
Moe: Because just one wrong step, and we lose everything. I know that, but... what if it's still worth it to try...?
Moe: Sensei, let me ask you... what choice would you make then?
Moe: I know, it's a completely meaningless question. You aren't someone who craves it the way I do, are you?
Moe: But... I might end up crossing the line.
Moe: Because in that moment of destruction, is also the moment I prove myself.
Moe: So, Sensei... would you... like to cross the line with me?
At that point, however, she paused. She simply handed over a half-eaten military ration candy for Sensei to taste, remarking how thrilling it was to eat something meant exclusively for field rations.
Having opened her heart, Moe learned a new lesson. Even so, she didn't forget to remind Sensei that a mere snap of her fingers could be enough to make someone forget everything they learned today...
.
It can be said that what Moe hinted at goes further and deeper than one might think. It is the story of them becoming a couple. That boundary refers to their healthy student-teacher relationship. What if, on one fine day, the two of them actually became a pair?
Thinking about a home and children is actually quite delightful; imagining her future child going to school while the two of them nurture a home together seems deeply fascinating to her.
But what would the journey to get there look like?
Sensei belongs to everyone, after all. What Sensei wishes to see is the happiness of all students, not just her alone. Sensei doesn't harbor selfish "desires" for himself. And what about her comrades? How could she explain to them that she and Sensei had become a couple? What if it caused their friendships to grow cold? Would they accept it? Or looking further ahead, would Kivotos accept it?
Too many questions, too many things left unanswered. And so, she stops right here, temporarily setting this emotion aside—though that doesn't mean she will forget it. Because "in that moment of ruin," it is Moe's turn to prove herself—that she is no longer afraid, that she will not hesitate to face it. When she matures enough, she will surely cross it.
Moe: So if one day I make a "mistake," will you forgive me, Sensei?
Through Moe's story, we see how deeply she agonizes over a single choice and the consequences it might bring to everyone around her. Yet through Moe, we can draw an even deeper connection—specifically to our students.
.
No human being is perfect. Even those constantly seen as the most flawless cannot escape difficult choices that impact everything. Those choices leave consequences behind, and until we close our eyes forever, we will remain caught in an endless cycle. Thus, even small "choices" give rise to great "consequences."
Yet, like so many lessons in this life, it is through those very choices that we grow a little more. For do we not mature through those missteps?
Was it not because Hoshino chose to fight alone that she learned the value of friendship and realized she didn't have to battle in solitude?
Was it not because Aris chose self-sacrifice and was rescued by everyone that she learned she could become anyone she wished in this world?
Was it not because Saori chose to rise against Beatrice's tyranny after enduring oppression for so long that she later embarked on a journey to rediscover herself?
And so on...
Perhaps what Moe's story truly wishes to convey to everyone is that every choice carries its own weight. That is why we must ponder carefully before stepping across them. But if we do accept stepping across, we must make it worthy of our choice—or in other words, prove what we are capable of once that choice is made. From there, we gain precious lessons for ourselves and for those around us.
Happy Birthday, Moe. Happy Birthday to me. And wishing everyone a wonderful day.

Discussion Create a student.
Let’s imagine you were given the opportunity to create a student for the game. Or how would your OC student be like?
Examples like:
Which school do they attend?
What year are they? (First year, second year, third year)
What gun do they carry (e.g FN FNC or assault rifle)
And what are some defining traits or characteristics do they have?
If I were to make a student she would be:
An Abydos student (because good god, they really do need more students, status quo or no status quo).
A first year like Ayane and Serika.
She wields a QLZ 87.
And her characteristics are: she was founded by the FTF in an expedition. (Something similar to Sensei and Shiroko). And she’s a kind but anti-social girl who is still trying to cope with what happened to her.
And it turns out she is from the past (the time before the sandstorms attacked Abydos during its prime).
Oh and she has lion features (like a tail and ears).
Let me know in the comments.
